URGENT Please Help With Advice………..

Bit of a long one and not sure if anyone can help me or has either been in this situation or knows someone who has. I am due to have surgery on Wednesday, I had my second consultation back in April and was told on Monday gone that I needed to have my pre op by Wednesday of that week. Because of the medication that I am on the surgeon has insisted I get a letter from my doctor supporting this and that I he is happy for me to have surgery. However my doctor has informed me that he is not prepared to do this for anyone including me because of the potential legality involved. Whilst I am understanding of both sides I have not been given any advice as to how to move forward with this situation. I am now in a catch 22 as due to MYA’s awful communication between each other this request has come very late due to their poor planning. The surgeon is refusing carry out my op without a letter and the doctor will not give me one – I am so anxious right now as this has been booked for 3 months now along with leave booked from work etc and as time is of the essence I really do not know what to do.

Get a second oppion with another doc at you surgery, tell them your situation and if they don’t want to wright it you could always ask them what you should do next… My doc is against cosmetic prociders so I’m not even going to ask her I’m going to another doc at my doctors hope it gets sorted for u x

Thats bad of them to leave it last minute to tell u. I bet your well stressing. My ba is wednesday to I know some doctors charge for letters its not alot so couldnt u ask them to do it for a fee or would they phone the surgeon (if surgeon accepts this to). U could try another doctor if not but not sure if that would mean u need to register to a new surgery which wont all be done by wednesday. Hope u manage to sort something out. Havent mya suggested an alternative solultion other than a letter? X

Hi michelle08 – thank you so much for your reply, I think I will try and speak with the lady doctor at my Dr’s Surgery as you suggested – I really am upset and angry at the moment that I have been left to sort this out myself and all because of MYA’s lack of communication which is shocking to say the least. If only they had organised my pre op two weeks ago that would at least taken some stress away but I now have less then 48 hours as from Monday to get this resolved. With the Surgeon saying that he will not operate until he has a letter (which I fully understand) I have not been given any advice from MYA as to what should be done next, I really think it’s bad of them to tell me this news today and expect me to resolve this situation alone without any support for how to move forward. Hi staceyr – thank you for your reply. Oh what a nightmare, I really am very stress as I have known as this op for 3 months now and have planned leave etc in preparation. Whilst I can understand both sides, I am the one that is caught in the middle at the moment. The surgeon wants a letter my DR says he does not do letter for this type of thing = catch 22. I guess I will have to try and speak to another DR at my surgery. I have ask if the surgeon would speak with my DR, so not sure if the surgeon will agree to this but in any case my DR’s word wont be good enough as the surgeon wants something in writing. I did think about going to another DR’s in my area but like you say am conscience of the time scale. I’m so unhappy with MYA because of how disorgainised they have been with y case, “sorry” just does not cut it. Me too. Yes I will keep you posted if anything it might help anyone for the future should this situation repeat itself, which I hope to God it does not for someone else. I’m going to Highgate, it’s where I had my first BA op. I have PIPs so this will be a re-aug for me All the best you will be fine my lovely, let me know how you get on with your BA – how exciting!! xx

It is really up to the surgeon operating to decide wether ur medically fit to hav the operations hols on a certain medication, so I can understand why ur gp is fusing the letter huni.. There wud b do many legal issues for go if he did it x

aw bless i feel so bad for you! they should have asked about medication you might be taking ages ago and told you about a letter from the doctor, even leaving it till pre-op stage is a bit late! really hope you can get it sorted hun. I duno if this will make a difference but you could ask the GP to sign the letter for your surgeon and then sign a disclaimer form to ensure him you wont take legal action against him in the future based on his recommendation that you are ok for surgery? If hes worried about legalaties then that would surely put his mind at rest? hope you can sort it hun, all the best! xxx

@amanda00 thanks for your reply – I totally understand it’s the surgeons decision but what i’m not happy about is that I was not given any alternative advice about how to move forward with this situation. It’s very unfair to say to a patient that the surgeon shall not go ahead with surgery unless they have something in writing and then not offer help/support with other possible ways around the situation. If, for arguments sakes, this op is cancelled and rebooked for 6 months even a 1 years time I would still be in the same situation as I shall be with the same GP, I just really wanted some support as to what other routes I/MYA can take/give. My GP and Surgeon know that I am medically fit for surgery it’s just the letter that is standing in the way to confirm this right now xx

I’m going to the GP tomorrow as there are two GP there I will ask both fingers crossed this resolves itself as I really do not know what else I can do at this very late stage xx

Just by way of update my surgery is now ok to go ahead. I was up and out to my DR’s at 7:50 this morning and the other DR at the surgery finally gave me the letter which I collected and 1pm today and faxed to MYA for the surgeon’s attention, the surgeon was happy with the contents of the letter and I was told at 2:15 that it’s now all systems go for my operation on Wednesday, I tell ya I could really do with a little drink right now after a mare of a weekend, guess I’ll have to postpone that for a few weeks at least!! Am so happy as I can’t wait for these PIP implants to be out and replaced. I was given the option to keep my PIP implants and was wondering if I should until there is more news about the French guy and for any future claims?(!) Thank you to the girls who above that replied I really appreciate your support xx

Aww thank you so much staceyr – all the very best to you too huni, we will have to let each other know how we get on for sure What does Mr Adamo recommend for you? When I spoke with him (such a lovely man) I wondered if I should go a little bigger but he told me that I was fine as I was and that the replacement implants would only be slightly bigger as this would keep things natural looking which is just what I wanted so trusted his opinion and went with 345 naturelle (sorry spelling!) overs, Im sure either way you will be a very happy bunny lol xxxx

R u having mr adamo to? He is lovely isnt he, what time is your admission? Mine is 9.30. Ah yeah definately well its 310 or 340 partials natrelles for me to. I also see him last week worrying if i should go bigger but he said my chance of rippling increase quite alot so e recomments 310 for me as im small aswel, ive checked the measurments and there only 1 mm difference in projection and .25 in width so worrying over bigger size defo isnt worth it. What size r u now? X

I am having Mr Adamo too, I have to be there for 7:30am tomorrow as I’m a day case, so you must be after me!! Seeing as there is only a very slight difference I would go with the 310, it might work out to be a tablespoon worth in difference size wise and might not be worth the implant number in case of rippling if you know what I mean. As you are tiny anyway I’m feel sure that 310 will be perfect for you huni. I’m currently a 36DD so will still be this size or a wee bit bigger which is fine with me. Iam happy with the size and shape I am already and if it was not for the fact I have PIPs I would not have to go through this again xx

thats great news, im really glad the docs pulled their finger out and got this sorted. bet you could have done withour the stress of it all. but it will make your new boobs even more special, for what you had to go through to get them, best of luck with your surgery xx

Yeah i was thinking that to hun. What size did u have in the pips? Yeah u sound happy with your size and that now so u r defo doing the right thing. Im a daycase to didnt want to stay overnight cause i have two boys n want to c them after x
