I’m going for overnight admission for 12 pm today for uplift and implant. My bf doesn’t want to drive into central to pick me up as he hasn’t done it before and due to congestion charges etc. so we’ve agreed for me to take a 30 min tube to Brent cross them meet him there. How impaired will I be?? Can I be going on the tube tomorrow or will I be on agony? Really wanna know if this is possible as there is no other way I can get home (Nottingham) besides this way x
Personally I think he should just drive into Central to get you, you might not be in agony but you will probably feel a bit spaced out! Everyone’s pain & recovery levels are different I haven’t had any pain however I did have some sickness due to anesthetic the morning following my op I took my little boy to pre school & took a 5 minute walk home I was exhausted, I also looked it! I don’t know how familiar you are with the tube but I used to live in London so I would also take these things into consideration the tube can be a busy place & people in London are generally in a rush so you don’t want to get knocked into! Also it’s very hot under there not much oxygen, you might not get a seat & will have to stand not the best after you’ve had surgery & may feel light headed as it is! The hospital also may not let you leave if you don’t have a chaperone! I really think you guys should re consider or at least get a cab to meet him somewhere you will also have your over night bag to carry & you don’t really want to be carrying that Hun. It was bad enough being pregnant living in London with a tiny bump coz you couldn’t really tell I was pregnant people didn’t really have consideration for me to have a seat. Hope this helps make your decision xx
I Hun I had uplift and I really don’t think u’ll manage it. I think if he doesn’t want to drive into centre then he should park at train/tube station and come meet u at hospital. Plus as above u really don’t wanna be standing n being pushed, plus there’s no way you’ll be able to rush on or off the tube. Think u’d be better getting a taxi x
Yeaaa I completely agree with the above, not a good idea gettin the tube! I just about felt comfortable in a car on the home xxx
I agree with all the above hun, I really do not think you will be up for the tube, also I would be really concerned with someone bumping you etc. I went home after about 6 hours after my surgery which was a 2hr drive and I passed out on the way home in the car, scared the life out of my sister. I certainly would not risk it.
My boyfriend drove to Central (for the first time) parked around the corner and came to collect me.
I am so relieved he did this, there is no way I would have been able to carry my things and I felt exhausted.
Do not get the tube.. He should come meet you.
If he isn’t willing to do this I suggest asking someone else to come with you!
Good luck Hun x
Deffo need a chaperone Hun, some people react different to anaesthetic and the tube is not the nicest of places, people just push past you and you could be squashed into a packed carriage, and it is hot under there, imagine after anaesthetic you will probably be feeling drowsy etc and then being squashed into a packed airless tube carriage, deffo not safe in my opinion, it’s better to be on the safe side. Also I signed a form at my nurses appointment to say they are legally not allowed to let you go without a chaperone so I doubt they will let you leave anyway xx
Ok thanks for all the info guys I really appreciate it!! I will take a taxi!! Xx
My bf drove and it’s annoying he got tuck in traffic but really isn’t that hard to get there he can just park round corner and pick you up I wouldn’t have been able to get a tube as your quite sore and feel all over the place and with the crowds it will prob be a bit much! I’m 2 weeks post off and still worry about ppl bumping me on the tubes now when I go up for check ups! I had a lift x
Most of the time the hospital staff won’t let you leave alone, someone needs to collect you for safety reasons, you’ll still be weak and groggy from the GA as well as any pain you might have. x
