I had myop yesterday, I was admitted at 11am. First went down at 1:45pm but they had my consent form wrong as I wanted to GA and not local.

Finally I went down about 4pm. I woke up in recovery at 5:45pm.

Everyone was fantastic. All so friendly and professional. Because it was late I ended up staying overnight.

I was given some toast about 7:30pm then I had a sandwich about 9:30pm as I was starving.

I had so much leakages so I was really glad to stay overnight and not ruin my sheets.

The pain is manageable but this foam vest is horrible, very hard to breath.

Any questions feel free to ask

    Hi Rebecca,

I am now 5 days post op and am finding breathing incredibly difficult, i can’t sleep and am sick every morning. The not being able to breathe is the worst part, it has gotten to the stage where i just want to take the whole lot off so i can breathe again.
Is there anything you can advise that will help with this?

    +1

Cut the vest down hun. Honestly that helps. Also Pull it lower from under your boobs as you’ll have more room to breath. Just make sure the incisions are covered.

    Hi Rebecca,
Thanks for the advice, i have to be honest the foam vest is very rigid and not easy to move in but the worse part is the Macom compression garment, i have had 2 sizes and i am unable to breathe in either. It has gotten to the point were i am struggling to breathe all day and worse in the evening when trying to sleep; i have been sick every morning and have been throwing up undigested dinner. For example i had dinner last night at 7pm and got up at 2:30am and threw it all up – undigested!
I have now had to take the garment off and wear tight high waisted spanx until the new garment i have bought from Recova (which will arrive tomorrow). How long do i need to wear the foam vest before i can take it off?

That doesn’t sound right at all hun. Did the nurse not measure you for the garments? I would complain as they are not exactly cheap!

My compression garment is fine. Annoying how long the short things are as I’m struggling with what to wear for work 🙁

I’m in a lot of pain today. My back actually feels like it’s on fire. Luckily I have a nurses app this afternoon so I’ll be asking her lots of questions.

I just hope all this pain is worth it. I had lipo before and it didn’t even work 🙁

I know it’s not right at all, i have had to google other garments and buy another one (waiting of it to arrive) and in the meantime i am wearing high waisted spanx over the 4d vest; i know this isn’t ideal but i cant breathe, digest food and am physically in pain when wearing it. I have called and spoke to nurses and the emergency line several times this week and they have all said it will get easier, i know they are doing what they can but what am i supposed to do in the meantime … not breathe?!?!
When i have taken the vest off to shower i can see that there is a difference but i am mainly concerned that this will revert back to how it was before i had the Vaser.
Another problem i have is that down the sides where the vest doesn’t quite meet it digs in and pushes the side fat out leaving an indent and it in a triangular shape; this is now becoming a little hard, should i worry about this?
I think that it would be so much easier to wear a garment if it wasn’t for the vest, i am hoping they say i only have to suffer 1 more week of it then i can juts wear the garment but i doubt this will happen.
    What do you think??
I know i have had to buy really baggy clothes for work and they look ridiculous! Hope it goes well at your nurse appointment

Hey hun, you have to wear the foam vest for 4weeks underneath if you’ve had flanks or tummy done, then you wear just the macom garment without the vest for 2 more weeks.

You shouldn’t be throwing up undigested food!!

do you have a blender/processor/ nutribullet? For the short term til them sort out your garment situation why don’t you try smaller or liquid meals for a few days? Might help your body get the nutrients. You could make a greens smoothie for bfcast, make some soup for lunch and just nibble on a little bit of chicken or cheese ( we need to eat protein for best recovery) throughout the day so u don’t get hungry. I’ve found this liquid/smaller little meals more often rather than one big meal at the usual time really helps with the foam vest on ( I’ve stopped having a full eve meal and have soup like tomato or vegatable that I make myself with white fish chopped up and added into it for some protein).

Don’t worry about hard bits/indents/lines etc from garment, they go down once vest comes off. I was really worried about this at first but I’ve spine to lots of post op people who say it goes!!

Hang in there hun, hopefully you’ll be happy with results! And remember it’s ok to have your garment off for upto 1hr a day after the first few days, without it affecting results. I have it off for a shower and for a 1hr MLD massage and it’s fine not swollen up or anything.

    Xxx
