Was anyone still smoking before surgery, honesty please girls!

Hi girls. Just wondering if anyone had smoked before surgery, and been okay? I’m just worrying a little bit 🙁 aghh, please help and respond xx

Hey hun, i smoked up intill 4 days before. but only smoked about 3 a day for a week before that.xx

Thanks for replying. And were you still okay? I cut down to one a day but just wondering if that would be a huge problem :(?xx

Im sure its not going to cause you any harm, I think they advise you not to because it increases the healing time because i heard it thins your blood, i didnt tell my consultant I had smoked before the 4 days before. Youll be fine, just try your best. xxx

i was wandering this too hun ive heard u shudnt for 2 weeks before?? xx

I texted my coordinator and she says its, one week before and one week after, so that equals 2wks. But the longer the better. So confusing if just a few cigarrettes ruin the surgery xx

Ill be honest..I was told to give up two weeks before and two weeks after…I stopped the day before my op and started smoking 3 days after! I did try…but my willpower sucks!! 🙁 xx

hiya i really struggled with stopping 🙁 so i just kept on smoking, about 10 a day and I was abso fine. If you cant stop dont beat yourself up about it and at least you have cut right down. Good luck hun xx

Hi Hun. Just to warn you. I’m 5weeks PO and had nothing but problems since 3weeks With my scars not healing. They warn you for a reason. I like you thought I’d be fine but I wasn’t. If you can’t cut down as much as possible. I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what I have. I have constant bandages over my boobs and at nearly 6weeks PO am no where near close to being able to wear a normal bra or resume normal activities. Xxx
