Hay girls, I’m 3 weeks post op on Friday, I have a BBQ to go to on Saturday and its going to be really hot, not the weather to wear t-shirts that cover the the sports bra. My scars have healed perfectly and boobs are quite soft and jiggly, would I be okay to wear a bra for the day, probably around 10 hours max!?

They advise 6 but I wore a bra for a party 3 weeks post op and there was no damage I just couldn’t wait to get into my sports bra, maybe wear one without underwire because that can irritate your incisions xx

Yea I didn’t think there could be a lot of damage done, just a little rubbing on the incisions maybe. Thank you, I have a little more reassurance knowing someone else has done it and there’s been no effect x

I did it at 2 weeks for court but I cut the underwire out. Don’t think it will hurt. I’ve been wearing normal bras since 4 weeks and my boobs are fab! X

I don’t think it will do any damage for such a short time but the underwire might be a bit uncomfortable! I think they say no underwire because of the rubbing on the incisions may irritate/cause infection. I bought some normal looking bras without underwire to wear as soon as my strapping came off which the nurse said was fine, she just said no underwire for 6 weeks! I got mine from Debenhams and M&S do some too.

I thought you couldn’t wear anything but sports bra for the first 6 weeks? X

Well thats just what my nurse told me and thats what I did and 7 months post op my boobs have healed perfectly! Had my BA on 16th Dec and remember being so happy on new years eve to wear a nonwired bra rather than my sports bra!
