I went today for my 1 week post op check up. She told me that it’s fine to wear the garments the other way around!! I’m not sure about this. She told me to put spanxs on first and we buttoned it to the tightest. Then we put the beast on over the top of it, with that velcroed pretty tight so that the first velcro was over the edge of the stickies and it’s the second band that fits, if that makes sense. It’s so much more comfy, but I”m not sure if anyone else has been told this. The downside is that it’s a bit more bulky because obviously the all in one isn’t compressing it. I’m not sure what to do. I’m going to sleep in it tonight and see how it goes and then if nobody else has been told this, I guess I’ll revert back to the normal way. So has anyone else heard this? x

    Jane,
No i haven’t been told this, i have had a lot of problems with both my garments and have had to source a new compression garment from elsewhere as i found it impossible to breathe in the Macom one; i was also unable to digest my food and was being sick every morning — not good! my doctor told me that it is too tight and i need to get another one.
With my vest have found that as i am slightly bigger the sides do not meet regardless of how tight it is and leaves indents and bunching of skin when i take it off. Maybe wearing the compression garment underneath as you’ve been told would help to reduce this.
Let me know how you find it and i might try it that way.
    Good luck =]

    Hi Natalie,

Wearing the compression garment underneath was more comfortable and felt less restricting. Much smoother on the skin. So it’s something to consider. However, I’ve gone back to the normal way today. With the big compression garment on the outside I was always pulling it down and messing with it because it felt like it moved around a bit. Also I was getting fed up with the bulkiness under my arms as it was sticking into my armpits all of the time. And getting trousers on was worse because it’s not as smooth and feels even bigger due to the lack of final compression. I don’t know- give it a go. I can’t be the only person in Manchester that the nurse has told this to, surely? You could try a vest underneath maybe? I felt even more self-conscious than before with the big one on the outside. Not that anything could make us less self-conscious 🙂
