Hey ladies, I’m having surgery on May 17th, was just wondering if you have any advice on what to bring with me to the hospital and also what advice would you give for recovery? I’m having under the muscle so anything you found hard or difficult that you didn’t think about before e.g. lifting kettle, flushing toilet and how you dealt with these things… just want to be as prepared as possible so I don’t get stuck with anything during times when I’ll be by myself, thanks in advance Girls xx
Hey Paige we have a what’s app group for may it’s brilliant for advice ect would you like added to it? If so please send me a PM with your number 🙂 xx
I had surgery last Monday, under the muscle. You won’t be able to do anything. Go to the toilet, pull up your underwear, pull down your trousers, nothing like that. Have everything at hand height so you don’t have to reach up. Do a food shop the day before to make sure you have the basics in the fridge, because you won’t even want an online food delivery showing up, because you can’t pack it all away unless someone is around to do it for you.
One thing I didn’t realise after leaving the hospital, we left quite late in the evening and when I went outdide it was quite cold. My body started shivering and that REALLY hurt. I wish I’d have bought a throw over jumper or something like that for going outside after surgery. Even if you don’t feel the cold usually, you may well do after coming around from anaesthetic x
@sophia-s Haha oh dear I’ll have to live in a nighty for the first week then, I’m having surgery on a Thursday and my boyfriends back in work Monday so hope I’ll be able to go to toilet by then haha, actually that’s a really good idea, I do get cold easily and my hotels about a 10 minute walk away so I will be sure to bring blankets and jumper! Thank you chick, yeah I’ve told him he’ll have to make me some sandwiches and leave them by me, I have friends and family who live near by just in case I need anything whilst he’s in work, also random question but how long after having surgery until you feel normal enough to have sex? Sounds silly but I was thinking about this last night?xx
I lived in my button up nighty for the first 3-4 days. Only because I had a family member coming to stay with me this weekend and it was the only reason I bothered to actually get dressed haha! The less you can do, the better. The first 2 days I thought I was dying. And the painkillers really knocked me for 6. I was falling asleep every 5minutes and waking up hours later. Lol! And I have 2 children, the youngest having turned 1 this weekend, so I haven’t been able to hold them or anything.
I had sex for the first time maybe 4 days after surgery. But not regularly, it was very slow as not to bounce anything. It was so slow infact that my body barely moved so I doubt it counted as exercise (not for me anyway) haha! You’ll know when you’re ready, and if your body is strong enough for certain things or not x
@sophia-s Aww thank you, haha that will be me too! I hate being in pain so I’m going to be a nightmare and having to quit smoking on top I’ll be pulling my hair out haha, Aww I hope I’ll be able to sleep, nothing worse than being restless, Aww love them 🙂 Haha yeah that’s what I was thinking just take it slowly, I’ll be dead to the world for the first few days probably so the boyfriend has no chance haha, I’m sure it’ll be fine though xx
Heya hun,
I am 7 weeks post op now and as much as i prepared and brought everything i could to make recovery easier u can never be fully prepared for the arm restrictions.
I couldn’t flush the toilet or reach for the toilet roll (things you take for granted) I looked up all foods that help with recovery of tissue and scarring and had it delivered the day before however for 2 weeks i had no appetite and a massive belly that makes u look 6 months pregnant from the bloat from anesthetic and not being able to go to the toilet (GET PRUNE JUICE) but i made myself eat fruit in the morning to get some goodness into me. I ahd a vshaped pillow and a wedge pillow to get me at the right angle to sleep at night (didn’t sleep for 3 weeks either)
Join the whatsapp group as i am in 1 with all the girls that had it done in March and can say its the best thing ever, supporting each other and asking question, we still all talk everyday and send pics and even outifts from nights out. You literally feel like you have made 50 new best friends x
@princesssascha Aww I know I’m gonna forget things I’m useless, will have to write a list! I’m so independent as well I’ll get sick of asking for help haha, probs just lay there and cry, I’m dreading sleeping upright gaurentee I’ll wake up on my back, thanks for the advice, yeah I’ve just been added to Jades group what a laugh I’ve had! Xx
I relied on my mum to do everything. Honestly even if u feel u can do something don’t do it cause u will pay for it after with pain and discomfort. Even if u feel ok your insides are trying to heal. I Don’t want to sound negative but from what I have learnt it isn’t plain sailing and some girls go into it so nieve. And I wish I had read more of the realistic side of it. It is 100% worth the 6 weeks hassle and after 2 weeks u will feel alot better x
@princesssascha I’m just going to enjoy the time off work, relax in bed with food and watch Netflix, not at all I want honest opinions, just want to take myself to the loo to haha, my partners pretty good he’ll give me a lot of help and I’ve stresses to him how much I’ll depend on him bless him he’s sick of hearing all this boobie talk it’s been going on months now so glad it’s finally round the corner xx
