When is it possible to shower?!

I had my surgery on Monday and i’m dying to have a shower and wash my hair, how much longer do i need to wait? X?

Hey Hun, I was able to shower after 2/3 days, and that was because the strips my surgeon used where very waterproof and I was given the clear. I was advised not to soak them and not to stand under the shower for too long. But I was able to have quick showers more or less days after. I’d ring your hospital and confirm though x

They look amazing ? I was able to shower after 48 hours but my surgeon used dissolvable stitches. Definetely worth ringing your pc for advice on when you can. Hope your recovery is going smoothly xx

My first shower was after seeing a nurse on 10th day of the surgery she said 1 of the cut is still open so please do not take a shower yet. Do a quick shower after 48 h. So basically my first shower was on day 12. I feel your pain as it was the biggest nightmare to do not have proper shower for so long. But better save then sorry I would say. Better give a call to MYA for advice.

I had normal stitches rather than dissolvable so had to wait 14 days.. had a friend wash my hair over the bath though and had shallow baths with a sponge xx

I’m 6dpo, dissolvable stitches and haven’t have a shower yet, just baths with a sponge. Had my post op check up today and was told to not shower till Wednesday / Thursday when I’ll be able to remove my dressing completely. The cut under my left boob is still open so I need to keep it dry.
I think it is a very individual thing xx

Thanks for the advice girls! I’m having my bandages changed next thursday but reckon i’m going to ring up on monday to ask because i can’t cope haha xx
