I’m back again, I first had my consultation in 2012 but shortly after fell pregnant with my son and then with my daughter so two children later I’m done and now I want my boobies preferably next year, I’m so excited but I’m very scared about being put under, I’ve had general once when I had my ears done but I was 5 so I don’t remember much, can anyone tell me their experiences I’m heading more towards local , thank you:)
Hi Charlotte,
I’ve had general quite a few times and I promise it is so much less scary than it seems. The nice thing about it this that you’re asleep in seconds and wake up when you’re done. I have two children too and so I felt really anxious about having it this time but I really didn’t need to be. I’ve never had local but I did consider it – I decided I would rather just wake up with it done. Obviously that was just my preference.
The only downside is that I got a bit of nausea off the general, I’ve never had that before though so not sure why I did this time. I threw up when I left the hospital but I was perfectly fine after that. I think it was all the motion getting to the car and having profiteroles for lunch 😉
Hope that helps a little! X
Hi hun I had the local and I honestly don’t remember a thing! As soon as the put they thing in my arm I was asleep and only woke up when I was being wheeled back to my room lol I had doctor kazzazi at Doncaster and the staff were amazing…I personally didn’t want to risk my life for boobs and with having children didn’t like the thought of relying on a breathing machine and tubes down my throat incase something went wrong so I opted for the local. Apparently it’s better for your recovery and makes coming round less painful too as you are still quite numb xx hope this helps xx
I never realised we had a choice!
When did you get given an option to choose?
I will definitely opt for local over general.
I am having my op on Tuesday next week. Do I need to discuss this before the op date or is it a option on the day?
I did really want local I asked at most of my consulations about it and was told no. Ive never had a general and having one on Saturday…but would have deffo preferred to be having a local. My pc said she has seen a few locals that ended up been generals during the procedure and said it is quicker with General. I guess it does depend on the anesthetist and I will still ask on Saturday to have it done with sedation and spinal blocks but I think it will be a no lol
Your surgeon and location will depend on what method you have. I know Kazzazi only uses local and Mounir only used general. I had never had an op so never had either option before but really wanted local – was gutted I could only have general with my surgeon but it was fab! The feeling of going under was great as weird as that sounds and I woke up absolutely fine (just shivering!). the risk of dying through general is less than the chance of dying on the way there so I wouldn’t worry!
Thank you so much ladies yep it’s with kazzazi at Doncaster 🙂
I have had an op under general before and I woke up asking for hot dogs and chips haha m, I spoke to mya today who said I would need to go with kazzazi if I want local, his work looks amazing Anyway and he’s local to me :). Has anyone else had local? It seems the best for me k think
I’m only almost 3 weeks so still a long way to go xx
