    Hey,

I’ve been prescribed an inhaler to help with shortness of breath since having covid.
I’m hoping to have surgery in April/May. Before I make a payment to secure a date I wondered if the inhaler will become an issue?

Has anyone had surgery that uses an inhaler? x

    Hiya

My surgery was cancelled completley and surgeon was refusing to operate even though the last time I had an inhaler was when I was a child so I would say defo dont book with MYA because they probs wont be willing to do it.

I went with Linia and they were amazing xx

    Hi girls,
Thanks for your reply. This is what I was worried about 😩
That seems ridiculous Amber, Especially if other surgeons and companies don’t have a problem with it. I defo think it’s just a MYA thing, I’ve spoken with another company and they said it’s not an issue 🤞🏼x

Mya wouldn’t even book me for an initial consult because I had taken some medication a year ago for a heart problem I no longer had! Literally the most bizarre thing I ever heard, I ended up booking with someone else

I did hear about this too. On the day of my surgery (not with mya) the nurse asked me all the medical questions that I’d been asked before she asked about asthma and I said ‘yes’ to having it, and she definitely paused and I quickly said ‘but I haven’t had an inhaler since I was a child!’ and then she said ‘oh ok.. that’s fine.’ but I did feel it was definitely about to be an issue ! So maybe double check

Ask definitely. I’m assuming it’s a newish thing (maybe COVID related) because I have a history of asthma, but I was last assessed by my GP 7 years ago (I’m 30), and I had my procedure in December and it didn’t seem to be an issue then!

Hey. I had my surgery 2 and a half years ago, I have asthma, I have two inhalers and other medications and wasn’t a problem.

I had my surgery yesterday and I have asthma. It’s mild, but I do use my brown inhaler twice per day every day. I was told to bring my two inhalers with me to the hospital, which I did. None of the nurses or surgeons were concerned, and it all went ahead without any problems.
