Hi ladies, just a quick question about work…I’m a midwife and so my work is pretty physical, lots of moving about catching those babies! My op is hopefully going ahead in March with Mr Traynor and so far think I’m having a BA (overs – mot sure on size yet) and uplift… I haven’t actually told anyone at work I’m having at done, hopefully ill be able to have a week off but not sure if I can book any more time that!
How long did everyone take off after their BA? How did you find going back to work? Were you still sore? Will7 days be enough??
Sorry for so many questions! Xx
Hey hun, I’m afraid I dont think one week will be enough, I got told 2 weeks min after an uplift & I’m 13 days post op n still not ready to return to work as im not healing very fast anyway (spa therapist so lots of massage & waxing) so I’m having to have another week off- 2 weeks holiday, one off sick 🙁
Everyone’s different though- perhaps speak to your pc? Hope it all works out for you xx
Aww boo! Ill have to see if I can book the second week off and request a few extra days before going back! Hope you recover very soon!
Pain wise, how have you been after having an uplift too? Have you been managing to do lots yourself or shall I rope in the girls to come and look after me haha?! Xx
I had 6 days off then was back at work, driving, even mucking out horses!! but I didn’t have an uplift and I did heal really well and really quickly.
Having overs is generally quicker recovery than unders so that’s one plus point.
I was sore for about 3-4 days, needing help getting out of bed and putting on coats etc.
Everyone seems to react so differently.
Good luck with your op!! Exciting!!
Xx
Thank youu 🙂 not really I’m afraid ive had my mum & boyfriend helping me but been on my own n managed throughout the days, my pain threshold is absolutely ridiculous mind but I’ve actually coped pretty well xx
Hey hun I work as a supermarket manager which is very physically demanding i do 12 hour shifts and loads of heavy lifting, i took three wks off and im fine now i back, could of probably went back after two wks although i cant lift anything really heavy above ma head xx
Im 8 days Post Op and have just had my dressings of, I can move better now but am still in some pain due to a lot of bruising, I can’t lift my arms to certain heights,
I am no way ready to drive yet, cant think of anything worse, I would say 2weeks , 3 weeks if possible as you want to be on form and not harming your recovery! as everyone reacts different, you cant tell until it happens x
Hi. Im a hairdresser, I work in a very busy salon n quite often dont get all of my lunch break. I had two weeks off. Felt ok just tired. This is my 2nd week back and I still feel tired. I had overs, and no lift, the nurse said im healing very well when I went for my 7 days PO. Xx
Thanks girls! I can’t have more than 2 weeks off at a time…just hoping the second week won’t be fully booked, otherwise I might have to go off sick! No way I’d be able to lift bottoms of beds off or run down corridors I do think!
I had unders. And had two weeks off snack to work in my salon to full colour but tried to space everything out a bit as was still a tad tender.. Mu second week whilst i was at home id ended up picking up my puppy quite a lot and running round with my neice just had to be careful how quick i moved my arms .. Im on my second week back in to work now and still feel a bit tender and still need to be careful how i move. Can u ask to do light dutys for a little bit when u go back?
