Hey girls –
I’m someone who is pretty into fitness and the gym, I got about 5-6 times a week and lost about 30lbs last year. I still have a fair bit more to lose too, so I’m pretty keen to get back in!
I’m currently 4DPO, bloated and feeling pretty down about my body. My parents are making comments on every single thing I eat, which REALLY gets up my nose because it makes me feel even worsens day it makes me feel guilty for eating.. however when I go to the gym and back to work I’m not in the house much and they don’t tend to bother comment on my eating habits.
Like I said, I’m suffering pretty bad bloating post op, and I’m feeling SO SO SO LAZY just sitting around doing nothing all day.
How soon after op did people get back into working out and what sort of workouts were you doing when you got back to the gym? I go to boxercise twice a week and lift heavy weights three or four times a week, with interval sprints or runs in one or two of those sessions. All of which I most probably can’t do at the moment!
I’m pretty keen to get back and get moving ASAP so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Currently little to no pain just discomfort as I’m not used to my new friends!
Hi I do body building and bikini competitions, and I was told no lifting for 6 weeks. I’ve had partial unders and the bloating is getting me down especially as I can’t exercise. But I’m only 5 days post op and taking it easy. I’m walking around the house every hour or so and next week will take short walks around my local park just to get me moving, then longer walks from there. My PT is going to adapt my exercise plan to accomodate my needs, but I’m listening to my surgeon and body on what I can do, no point putting myself back. This is a short time out of the rest of our lives, be careful and don’t hurt yourself. My eating plan has stayed the same as it’ll help heal and feed my body.
I have a fitness Instagram @cakesweightsandproteinshakes where u documented all my weight loss and since my ba have shared how I’m getting back into the gym and losing the 9lbs I managed to pile on through not training and xmas. Please please please do not feel bad. Your body is recovering from surgery. Eat whatever u bloomin well like. You’ve lost weight before and you’ll do it again. Don’t sit there and eat donuts all day by any means but do not start trying to diet. You need to eat to help your body recover. High protein and eat the carbs for goodness sake. Genuinely I tried to get back into the gym at 3 weeks just lower body but I hated it. I’m 9wpo now and fully back at it lifting the same as before and I had unders. You will get back there but do not let this feel like a set back. I promise you give it time and you’ll be feeling back to your good healthy self. Start with bodyweight stuff. Lower body work and lots and lots of steady state cardio. You can start walking as soon as you feel ready but don’t rush into it! X
Hi it’s not worth rushing in if your body isn’t ready. I’m gagging on getting back currently 3 weeks po. I teach fitness classes of all description and some days I do 7 a day and i do this 6 days a week for the last 13 Years. So my body is in shock lol. My body is feeling fat bloated. I hate being lazy I’m struggling to do stuff and it’s kinda getting me down. But it would be a shame to ruin the results on a few weeks. So I’m chilling and enjoying the down time before I’m back to doing 30 classes a week. Cant wait to look amazing in my Lycra ! Lol x
I’m just under 4 weeks and went a d did a short lower body workout tonight. I didn’t raise my heart rate above 120 and just used the leg press, cable machine and a few kettle bells, however made sure I wasn’t using my chest muscles for any of it.
I would listen to your body and your surgeon, I was just told do not go doing things like press ups!
