What milligram did you get from your doctors girls? My doctors is refusing to give me anything because I’m going private! So I’m seeing if I can get an online prescription from the online doctor

Hun, it’s Naproxen. I got 250mg and took one three times a day. Lloyds pharmacy do an online service, so you can get it from there. It works really well, you barely feel any pain after you start taking it. That’s a bit odd that your doctor refused to give it to you. Mine knew it was for post-op pain and still gave me some. xxx

I’ll look on there now ๐Ÿ™‚ I know my doctors are terrible, went down for bloods and because I said it was because I was having private surgery she refused to do it, although they’re suppose to monitor my blood every so often anyway seeing as I’m aneamic, the last time they checked my blood was 2 years ago!! Pay taxes for bugger all back! So glad I’m going private for this!

@tyler naproxen has the same pain relief as ibuprofen. It’s just kinder to the stomach. My gran has a stomach ulcer so has naproxen instead of ibuprofen.
You leave your surgery with all your pain relief so shouldn’t need to go out and buy it hun. X

@tyler everyone is totally different. I had a fab time arrived for surgery 9 am was in car on my way home at 1:30. All I had was paracetamol and ibuprofen for 3 days. When I got home I sent my husband out on his work Xmas do and just chilled with my 3 girls.
If you have had tramadol before you should be ok. But I would see what they give you. Most girls get codeine and paracetamol( which is co-codamol) but it gives you constipation which is not nice!
They only thing that caused me problems was the anti-biotics as I was taking them on an empty stomach which made me sick. I was fine as long as I had a cup of tea and a biscuit or toast.
Good luck with your surgery it’s all worth it x

Naproxen and tramadol work in different ways, you need to take naproxen as it is an anti inflamatory so reduces swelling. Tramadol is an opiat and will only deal with pain and more likely to make you feel groggy! You can use both but wouldn’t substitute the naproxen, you will need it! With both you can also take paracetamol. Hope this helps x

I agree with Katherine. Naproxen is a painkiller/antiinflammatory, so it will also help with the swelling. See how you get on with the co-codamol they give to you after the op. If it doesn’t help much and/or makes you bloated/constipated, then you will definitely need the Naproxen. Tramadol is just a painkiller and doesn’t reduce swelling. I know Naproxen saved me when I was about 6 days post-op, my pain was unbearable and the co-codamol wasn’t doing anything. Good luck. xxx

So I can just take naproxen with paracetamol? X

Yes, you can take Naproxen and Paracetamol together as they are different classes of medication. However, I think Naproxen should be enough. Like I said before, it worked wonders for me but see how you get on with the co-codamol first as everyone’s threshold for pain is different. Hope your surgery day goes well. xxx
