Hey! So I have my surgery on the 27th April but my PC or nurse didn’t mention about hair extentions I’m guessing because mine are very suttle! On the day of the surgey do physically check you for hair extensions!?
Help!
You’re not allowed hair extensions if they have any metal in, you also can’t have your hair bobble with metal in either. Which hair extensions have you got? X
Mine have metal in, but surly they should be fine? It’s so expensive to take them out and put them back in! X
If you text your patient coordinator I’m sure she’ll be able to advise as to whether you definitely have to have them out x
Hi I had keratin wax bonds so mine were fine but my PC and nurse said if they had metal in they had to come out. I also had a panic as I’d just had a new set in lol xx
Do you think they physically check the hair! Because it’s never been mentioned to me!
Tape extentions will be fine as they have no metal in them, its only if they have to jump start you with a defib machine you cant be wearing metal with piercings or jewelery so you dont get bad burns. Xx
I have a dermal in my neck which I can’t take out and my nurse at pre op consultation said I’ll have to sign a form to say I’m aware of risks and use a tape over it. Said the reason was when they cut you open using a tool or something it can suck metal towards the heat and could possibly cause blisters around my dermal but she said it will be fine. Maybe ring your PC and explain the situation and ask if you can sign a form however it may depend on whether the surgeon will be OK with it or not too. Anyways good luck though xxx
Rachel I’m in the exact same boat!! I’ve got my op on the 6th of may. Currently got micro bonds extensions in just paid 500 pound less than a month ago. I can’t afford to get them out and get them back in it’s so much money.
I’ve messaged my PC. I’ll let you know what she says when she gets back to me.
Xxx
My extensions are sewn in on metal micro beads and I had to take them out 🙁 literally just had them tightened as well, I didn’t even think! Was sat there like a baldy chicken with no lashes or anything ha! You’re at risk of burns if you have anything metal … apparently! X
Is is just metal that you are not allowed? are you ok to have eyelash extensions and Gelish on your nails? or do you have to be totally natural?
@rachelf93 You have to take those type out aswell. Any metal. Some of the tools they use in theatre e.g. diathermy which stops bleeding can interfere with the electrical activity in your body and cause burns and in this case it would be your head. They won’t physically check your head but I don’t think you want to risk that happening to you. I’m a nurse and i’ve seen this actually happen. I’ve had to have mine removed as they are micro ring wefts (the ring being metal) and they had just cost me £500 lol. xx
@carrie28 Your not allowed eyelash extensions because of infection risk, e.g. bacteria sticking to them and your not allowed gel nails either or nail varnish for the same reason. Also having your nails painted can interfere with the oxygen saturation monitor they place on your finger.. its hard to get an accurate reading. So its all for your own safety x
Literally the same situation Beth just had them tightened! I’m paying my boobs out in full! I would rather just sign a form saying I know the risks! Wish they have mentioned this before not have to find out for myself 3 weeks before!! Stress! X
Rachel, check your messages Hun. I’ve sent you over what my nurse said xx
Hi Girls, I’ve also got micro bond extensions in and didn’t realise that they had to come out as it wasn’t mentioned to me! I messaged my pc a couple of days ago after seeing this but haven’t heard anything back. I’ve got my op in May and will need to find someone to remove them if this is the case as the lady who does my hair is booked up for the next 6 months!
Beth is it okay to add you and would you also be able to send over to me what your nurse said? xx
