Help! Hi, I’m weighing up having my tip refined (it’s quite bulbous!) with Dr Gonshior, but I’m really concerned about the swelling afterwards. I know swelling in the tip can take up to a year to subside completely, but how many weeks do people think it takes before you can realistically expect to see the new shape? I could probably handle 4-6 weeks of it looking swollen or puffy, but any more than that would probably put me off.

  Hi!
  I noticed a difference straight away with mine, when I looked in the mirror for the first time it looked really weird, and I didn’t like it, but that was just the swelling. It’s been nearly a year now since I had an open with Dr G and the swelling is mainly gone, but I still can’t move it side to side with my fingers because the swelling is still inside and it would hurt. In answer to your question my swelling lasted for well over 6 weeks. I’d say to expect swelling for about 6 months and then it should start to go down. Some days i’d wake up and it would be bigger than the day before, then it would take a few days to go down again. Sometimes the swelling is worse than other times. You really need to be patient with the swelling and definitely can’t expect it to be gone within 6 weeks! Sorry! Hope that helps! 🙂

    Hi Sara I’m interested in how you feel about your result. I am wishing I’d had closed instead of open as my tip is really blobby and still seems swollen ..nostrils appear bigger that they did before..I’m 7 months post op now and wondering how much difference there will be realistically now..feeling pretty down about it. x

      I’m mainly happy with the result. I know that if I’d had open I wouldn’t have anything close to the result I wanted, cause I needed work on my tip so closed wouldn’t have been suitable. My nostrils do ‘stick out’ more now, they are rounder whereas before they were long and slim. If you can still feel swelling in your nose I think there’s still going to be a difference yet. It’s been 11 months in mine and I’ve noticed a difference within the last month. And I can still feel swelling so I think it’s still going to change some more. Swelling is awful, it really got me down some days but it does go down and doesn’t reflect the final result. Its annoying but all you can do is be patient X

      Thanks so much. It feels better to hear something from you..and know that I will need to leave it a year or more. It was always a risk I took with rhino that results may differ to what you expect ..and no turning clock back now, so will just hope for some more reduction in tip swelling x
