Just been for my first consultation today, and a bit stuck on my finance options, I have just started working, but do not earn £1000 a month, I was suggested to look into a loan from somewhere with a low APR or a credit card with 0% interest on purchases for something like 22 months. I will be starting University in September and so will be able to use my maintenance loan to pay off the cost in larger amounts. Has anyone had any good experiences with loans or credit cards? Or any suggestions of where to look for the best deal? :) xx

p.s I don’t really have anyone who could be my guarantor. My parents are out of work at the moment, and my grandparents are to old I would imagine to be accepted.

I got a 0% credit card with virgin for 13 months. They only gave me a 2k limit though even bough my credit rating is good. (I had already paid £1500 cash so I only needed 2k limit anyway) xx

Thanks girls, the M&S card seems like something I would really consider, im wary of cards cause of all the trouble you can get into with them, but I am responsible and will only be using it for this, nothing else. How have your experiences with the applications? Were they fast? xx

Mine for fairly quick but it was over Xmas so yours will be quicker. The only thing I would suggest is applying over the phone so you are told straight away whether you’ve been accepted. I did mine online and had to wait a few days to find out. Let me know if you need anymore info xx

have a look on go compare or money supermarket for the best rates around for a 0% credit card but be careful because they are only 0% for so many months then if you were to use it again youd get charged ect si cut it up soon as youv paid for your surgery, i found a good deal with nationwide for a minimum payment of £116 over 18 months then obviously just pay off what you can, or you can go to your bank and youv got more chance of getting a credit card then just tell them your starting uni and need a car or sumthing? lol

    hope this helps xx
