18 Days po, can someone advise me on cleaning insician? PLZ HELP! xx Started by: flicky1

BA – Im 18 days po an at my 10 day post op check the nurse removed my dressings and put these little strips ontop of the scar and told me in 7 days remove them, which I did yesterday. What do I do now? Before i took them off i washd with sanex zero but as the scar is now exposed am i meant to put anything on it to aid healing? like any special washes or antibacterial stuff etc? Im quite confused, do i just carry on washing as normal? ive read on here girls use savlon wash but i dont know when they started? is it now or 6 weeks po?? PLEASE HELP ME CHICKS!! xxxxx

I used to wipe mine with boots antiseptic wipes and dry gently up until the 6 week mark, never touched mine with water xx

my nurse told me the same with my strips to remove them at 7 days then she said just wash as normal i dont put soap on the scar but i dont worry about getting it wet in the shower x

I’d ring the nurse maybe? I know it’s different…but with any piercings I’ve had they have strongly advised me against savalon or any bacterial washes etc as they can damage rather than aid healing…saying that others advise it…so I’d def check! x

Thanks girls! ill prov give them a call or just carry on like normal with the sanex zero! i dont mind them getting wet as im wont be scrubbing my insician! kinda scary now its exposed though!!! xx

My nurse put mine on Thursday at 6 days po she told me to leave them on 4 days n get a shower n let them cum off, but thts the only advise she gave me xx

Its so confusing that we all get told differet thngs! My nurse told me to remove hem myself at 7 days and not to leave them on for longer then 7 days an not to take them off at any time before 7 days :S x

I had all dressing off at 8 days an told I can shower as normal with normal gel only not get 2 soapy over scars, but I bought the sanex to be extra careful, was so scared to get them wet first time, must have stod there 5 min gettin brave enough to put them in water but it didn’t sting xx

@beckie90 yeah at 10 days po i had my main dressing taken off, stitches out, lil strips replaced with new ones n she said remove them in 7 days so that made me 17 days po when i took it off. maybe cos i had stitches they take out rather then disolve they need to be covered up for longer? god knows lol xx
