Okay ladies so I think we all like reading these stories and they helped me loads as I was making my decision and preparing for the big day!
My op was 2 weeks ago today, 15th September at the Fitzroy London with Dr Frati. Having 350cc teardrop unders. Admission time was 7.30am, I arrived at 7.15 and was taken straight up into my room by the nurse and told to put the sexy gown and nickers on! Not long after that she came back and did all my observations and told me I was first on the list!
Dr Frati came in about half an hour later and did his drawings and pictures, my mum was with me and thought he was a ‘man of little words’ haha but I was just so happy with him lol.
Maybe 5 minutes after he left, the anesthetist Dr Bhat came in and we had a chat and he said he would see me soon.
It was about half an hour after that the nurse came back and said they were ready for me.
Walking to theatre was the only time I felt a bit nervous but the staff there are all so lovely and they kept me reassured. It’s a bit of a surreal feeling having to voluntarily place yourself on an operating table!
Dr Bhat put the Canula in, I’m not worried by needles anyway but he was so good I didn’t even feel it! I looked at the clock and it had just gone 9am. And then the assistant have me the oxygen mask and said I’d be going to sleep, I felt a wave of drunkness for about 2 seconds and the next thing I was waking up in recovery. I think I was still abit out of it because I cried at the nurse for waking me up haha, I was having such a good sleep! It was about 20 to 11 when I woke up. They took me back to my room where my mum was waiting. I had drains and strapping across the top but not all round like Frati often does. I was out of it for about another hour and then I was fine.
I know we all react differently and I am one of the lucky ones that had zero pain. It literally just felt like muscle aches from doing a bit too much at the gym. I had my drains out at about 3pm and I was on my way home by 3.30.
The journey home took 3 hours due to traffic accidents everywhere! But I had a pillow across my chest so the seatbelt didn’t cause me any pain, my dad drove carefully but it wasn’t so much the bumps in the road that I could feel, it was more going round corners.
I was told not to wear my sports bra until my 1 week check and let the strapping do its thing. I had my check up at 6 days post op, the nurse was very happy and *finally* got the awful strapping off, honestly I don’t know how you girls that have the strapping all over coped with it!!
I had to wait until day 10 for my shower, so it was mainly baby wipes and my mum helped me have a shallow bath a couple of days and washed my hair for me so I didn’t feel too grim. I didn’t take any pain killers after I left the hospital I didn’t need them, just the anti biotics which still bloated me up loads and I looked 4 months pregnant until a couple of days after I finished taken them.
I found it difficult to raise my arms or do anything for the first couple of days so stayed with my parents as I live alone. You definitely need people around those first few days, it’s amazing what little things you struggle doing, even flushing the chain and pushing door handles down hurts!
I started to feel like my arms were back to full mobility without any aches at around day 10.
I started driving at day 11 and it’s fine, bit of an effort turning the steering wheel round tight corners and my muscle pinches a bit when I put it in fifth gear but other than that it’s fine.
I slept upright for 12 days, the first week I had no problems other than waking up a couple of times to readjust myself but by the second week my bum and tailbone were completely numb from spending almost 24 hours a day sitting down and I was getting less and less sleep so I’ve gradually lowered the angle and now I’m lying pretty much flat on my back, * definitely get a v pillow ladies * they are amazing and I don’t think I would have slept so well the first week without one. I’m still sleeping on it now to stop me rolling on to my side in the night.
My boobs are starting to soften up slightly although they’re still pretty hard, theyre still numb under the nipple and my nipples are a bit tender and sensitive but nothing that I notice unless I catch them when I’m getting dressed etc.
My scars look amazing already, my right boob is the less neat of the two but still is so good and I’m pretty sure they’ll be invisible in a couple of months. I can not praise Dr Frati enough. He’s the most popular for a reason!
I’ve attached a few pics from this morning, and there’s more on my profile if you want to look or ask me anything!
Xx
