I thought I’d share my story as I always found the stories on here very helpful. I’ll try not to make it a long one!
I arrived at Fitroy hospital at just before 8am, I knew I was second on list so expected I’d be going into theatre at 10ish. The nurse and the anthestist came in to see me at 8.20, then everything felt very real (weirdly the reality of my op hadn’t hit before now!) cue nerves kicking in and a very very fast heart rate (which they had to take twice)! The nurse told me that Mario wasn’t yet in. At 10am the nurse came in again to tell me that Mario still wasn’t in, so I expected not to go down until lunch. Five miuntes later Mario came into my room. He did his drawings on me and we rediscussed what I wanted; to look an E cup but natural(ish). He had advised 410, 460 or 525 extra high profile, responsive implants, unders/partials, however last time I saw him he had said that he was worried that 525 may be too big for my frame (I’m 5ft 4, size 6/8 and a 30dd/32d pre op – I had myself meassured last week). I asked him to put in whatever implants he thought were best. I then said I guess I’ll be going into theatre in two hours and he said no, you’re going in now, I’ve moved you to first on the list! So the nurse came in to get me and off we went to theatre. I had two male anethesists who were brillant, they put me at easy. The needle in the hand stings a bit, but literally for seconds. The anethesists said he was going to give me a little drink to make me sleepy, I asked if he could make it a Pinot Grigo and that is all I remember. I then woke up in recovery, my first question was “what size did I have?” (which I reckon must be the most popular first question). Mario had put in 525’s – yay!!
I then went back to my room were my lovely friend was waiting for me. I chilled there for about 5ish hours, saw Mario again who had a good feel, gave me the all clear and said he was very happy with his work. I then got a taxi home.
I’m wearing a breast band which whilst it isn’t the most comfortable thing in the world it honestly isn’t the worst. I generally feel ok, my right side is sore, sitting up in the morning hurts but it only lasts a few seconds. The only thing I’ve noticed is that I can’t stand up quickly or I feel faint, so I’m standing up very slowly.
