Thought I’d update you ladies on where I’m at… I had prof hart in Glasgow, adm time 5pm, surgery 7pm.
5-7 was a long wait especially due to my hunger, it was all I could talk about which was funny for all! If you are anything like me & quite independent I’d advise your guardian, parent or friend to leave at this time. I really needed the peace!
Dr hart arrived to see me about 10min before surgery & did the body graffiti- wish I had a pic!
When I was taken down to anesthetist one sec I was yapping, the next I was waking up & apologizing for ‘nodding off’ – to which they informed I was done!!
Then..beware!! The flood gates opened. I wasn’t in pain but have been told this is the anesthetic wearing off & disorientation. Hence the first thing I did was call my mum and panic her a little!
By the time she arrived 10 min later I had come to and was fine but already lying munching chocolate…following this I had 6slices of toast, pot of tea, alpenhorn bar, banana…you name it I ate it. The nurses found it hilarious!!
To be honest it made me feel completely great and absorbed the drowsiness – so make sure you do so for some energy.
Since then I have been napping but waking up with excitement , very little pain until 3am..6hours in and have now been given meds. This is just like muscle ache however!
I would advise anyone to do a night case. It’s 110% worth it for peace of mind, reassurance & relaxation. Plus the hospital beds can be moved to prob you up & ensure you have the most comfortable first nights sleep!
I’ll update tomorrow on the car journey and pain if any!!
