I’ve had acne since I was 12/13 and im almost 19 now and it still hasnt gone away. Does anyone recommend any products or treatment? I am currently using Lancome skin products for my skin type but I want to get my skin sorted before my BA.
u should try dermilogia, there products r excellant, i went on a training course tlast week as we r getting these products in our salon and they r amazing, i wanted to buy everyfing, search online it will show u your local salon which stocks it and they will advise which products to buy, the even have a range for acne skin xx
even if u go to a local salon that stocks it they shoudl be able to tell you, why ur skin is braking out etc and jst giv u some advice, some salons do a short 20 minute facial so u can get to try the products out xx
Ditto chic, the only things that cleared it was Dianette (Contraceptive pill) and Duac Gel. Both prescription only. Google them both and go ask you GP, no harm in a trial. Anything I bought myself didn’t work, I tried pretty much everything as well including derm products. However you’ll need to come off the pill before your BA so i suggest Duac Gel to start with.
I used to get massive boils, some with heads some without. That big they would distort my facial features! On my chin, on the bit between my top lip and nose, in between my eyebrows and also along my cheek bone!! xxx
Duac!!! Its fantastic! Can b worn under your makeup too! Its definately worth paying for. Get it perscribed from the doctor. It helped me no end and now im acne free, jus occasional spots round my period! Xxx
Ive tried ‘clairette’ which is the same as dianette and had Duac for years
the doctor told me the the thing that may cure it was these tablets but only a dermatologist could prescribe it because they are so strong but they cause depressive and i’m prone already so
Ive tried 4 different contraceptives, three different creams and different antibiotics. Its so annoying, I want the skin of a Cullen!
xxx
I didn’t realise Id have to come off the pill before my BA, how long before as Im hopefully getting it in mid jan
Duac! It’s amazing xx
Babes, I’d deffo go see a dermatologist if you haven’t already. If duac and Dianette haven’t touched it then nothing you can buy on the high street will either chic.
To be brutally honest, and I apologise in advance for sounding rude, but if it’s really that bad I would rather spend the 3k+ I was spending on a BA on getting my skin sorted! xxx
2 weeks before to come off ur pill i was told in my pre-op x
I m prone to acne too – my dad had serious acne. Thankfully for us- My mum’s good skin gene diluted it for me and my sisters but I do suffer from time to time. I was put on a contraceptive pill which cleared up my acne but the adverse reaction was I became suicidal. Needless to say the Doc took me off that. A sun lamp is the other option. Quinoderm is good too
Hey,
Iv been put on so many anti biotics and creams etc. Am currently on diante, an antibiotic and duac cream. I don’t have particularly bad skin but these 3 combined work a treat.
Your dr is talking about roaccutane which is really strong, and you would not be able to take that before your op. Also you cannot go in the sun at all when ur on it or drink ever a drop of alcohol plus it has been linked to serious depression and suicide. It does work though so if you have tried everything else, with doctors supervision maybe that would be the only option. I’d get referred to a dermatologist though as the dr’s are pretty clueless about skin problems, they never want to refer you cos of the cost but if you’ve had problems since you were 12 I’d insist xx
Hi, i developed horrendous acne when pregnant with my first child, it covered the whole of my face
i was put on dianette which cleared it up but came off to have my 2nd child, Dr was reluctant to put me back on it as my skin wasnt as bad after my son. I was given adapelene Gel and have just started using Pro-Activ cleanser, toner, moisturiser. i was a bit sceptical at first but was recommended it by a freind who also suffers bad acne. Ive been using it now 4 weeks and my skin is almost clear!! you can only buy it online and it is £40 but i’ll definately continue using!! xx
I Sympethise with you, Acne is an absolute nightmare, really knocks you confidence (well it does mine anyway). I have lovely skin as a teenager but it started getting bad in my early 20s. I was on the pill for it and it worked really well, but had to come off it because it triggers migraines for me. Saw a dermatologist 4 weeks ago and have been started on Limecyclin, at the moment my skin is worse than ever but apparently it gets worse before it gets better, fingers crossed anyway. You should defo ask you GP to refer you as a Dermatologist can prescribe and will prescribe stronger antibiotics than your GP. Boobs sorted and once my skin is Ill be happy
. Hope you get sorted Xx
I suffered with Acne as a teenager, I was prescribed Roaccutane it is a very strong treatment and you will need to see a dermatologist in order to make sure it is the right treatment, I tried everything and this was the only thing that worked for me. Good luck! xx
I appreciate what you said about spending the money for my BA on my skin but I have spent quite a lot on my skin already and I know with a BA my body will actually change ha ha, plus, whats the point in having nice skin but no breasts? for me anyway it wouldn’t be worth it ha
Roaccutane is the one I was offered to see a dematologist for at the doctor said it was the only thing that would clear it up, but I have been to the doctors due to anxiety and depression so its unlikely they’d want to put it on prescription for me, but maybe its something I will look into in the future. Did Roaccutane do the trick fast or did it take a while? xx
Hun, I also suffered from both of depression and anxiety but it was because of the acne I think… I went on it in January and by April my skin was clear… I stayed on it until August as my doctor wanted to make sure that we killed on the bacteria. This was many years ago and I really think it was the best thing that was prescribed for my skin and I was very happy with the results. If I have ever had a daughter or son and they had acne I would make sure they have this treatment, as I had gone on this sooner It would have saved on many months or feeling down about my skin and trying various tablets and topical treatments which quite frankly didn’t work and I think had I gone on it sooner it may have prevented some of the scarring which I have been left with, which luckily for me isn’t too bad but could have been none at all! Honestly when the acne started to go and not return it was like a second chance I remember feeling so bad all the time but by the summer my skin looked amazing and I was sooo confident my whole life changed. PM me anytime hun, I really understand what your going through..xxx
I have never heard of Roaccutane being linked to depression and suicide, hun, research it and go and see a dermatologist about it, I think a lot of people scare monger about things they don’t know much about. After uni I did the NVQ in beauty therapy and although I do not work as a therapist now I did for a bit and when did had a few clients on the treatment and they were fine and although you cannot sun bathe or drink much, you can sit out in British winter sun, and I’m sure I had the occasional drink. Go get the facts hun… I was on it many years ago so I don’t know if there have been many developments over the years. The thing with the Roaccutane is that the acne never normally returns although you may get the occasional hormonal spot its not acne xx
I use Nicam Gel on my spots and it’s was the only thing to help until recently. I don’t have acne but I do have very spot probe skin and have done since I was 11. I have Polycystic ovaries which being hormone related causes me to get spots around the jaw line, neck and chin.
I have recently started juicing and my skin has improved so much. Every morning I juice, 2 apples, handful of berries, 1 carrot, half a celery stick, 1/4″ cucumber, 1 broccoli spear, handful of spinach and I slice of lemon. It may sound gross but it tastes fab! My complexion is so much better. I use a moisturiser by Harley street skincare and that makes my skin silky smooth.
Give it a try, you have nothing to lose xx
Really, thats tastes nice?? I don’t believe you, really??? I need to buy a juicer I think. A decent one though, that doesn’t need much cleaning lol!! xxx
Maybe try derma-roller procedures hun? I’ve read somewhere that it helps acne? xx
Hun I suffered with acne and had IPL laser treatment, was amazing but expensive,I paid £850 for 5 treatments,at the same time I went onto antibiotics so both have helped heaps,I also use the Agera range from Harley street, its great I found that dermolgica dried my skin out too much xxx
Honestly nikibockerglory!! It is a good juicer, I got a Philips aluminium whole fruit juicer. You get a book come with it and all the recipes in sounds fab. They tell u what problems they can help with, lots of skin ones, the guy who wrote it is all lover the tv and used to suffer bad with psoriasis. Give it a go, nothing to lose just get loads if vitamins and goodness xx
Huni, I also cut out caffiene as that clogs the skin. If I do have some I can feel the spots breaking out! xxx
Thanks so much for all your advice guys, I am going to take it all on board. I think I may wait till after my BA because id end up having to stop treatment half way through, so ill do it after and hopefully by the time im healing, my skin may be on the mend to and by the summer ill turn into a swan haha
I have looked into IPL which may be an option, apparently it is good but obviously the cost is a lot. I could do with eating healthier, I don’t eat much fruit, but like veg! Just don’t eat enough of it xxx
I didn’t eat enough of it either huni but now I am juicing I am getting all the goodness it it’s purest form. Then if I have veg for dinner it’s a bonus xx worth a go and you can start that now xx
I find that Berocca is very good for energy levels and keeps my skin bright.
xx
