acryllc nails?

Hi girls,

Do I have to soak my nails off for my op?

My mum had to when she had an op because on the heartrate clip that goes on your finger.

I didn’t have to when I had one on in pregnancy

Just wondering what the rules are with nails for BA? X

Yea hun it says with the info pack off your PO that nails need to be removed, I always got acrylic nails on I’ll feel lost without em haha! Oh well new set after the op x x

Ahh nooo! Can you not just take the one off so they can clip that finger?!

My fingers are stubby without them

Ill get them soaked day before and new on day after!

I think it’s not just for the clip hun it’s just a risk of bacteria! Same with tan, false eyelashes and make-up .. All gotta come off

does anyone know when you recieve this information pack? as the only thing i have recived is my letter confirming surgeon, hospital and date and what deposit i paid xx

I got mine at my pre op laura x

I didnt take my acrylics off before op. I just changed to clear acrylic on clear tips, and kept them really short. I had no questions or requests to take them off at hospital. Removed nailpolish on toesies before op too. I think you should be ok if you keep them clear and short

they usually ask you to take them off so they can keep an eye on the colour of your nails for some reason i can’t remember exactly why?

I had my pack of my surgeon or patient co-ordinator can’t remember! X x

So no toe nail varnish either?? X

Hi hun. My nurse told me I wasn’t aloud my nails on so had to have them soaked off a few days ago. (after 10yrs with them on they are now soooooo thin & painful).

You will have to take ya toe nail varnish off as well babe.

This is because the anestetic lowers your breathing rate and almost paralysis your breathing muscles which is why they put a tube down your throat during surgery. Because of this happening they have to keep a check of your nail colourings and make sure their not going blue etc and they can’t monitor this properly with falsies xxx

I kept tow varnish on. They need clear nails to check ur blood flow to ur finger tips etc. And all the other stuff obviously like bacteria n clip for finger. X
