advice? first drink/night out after op…

basically i’m having my op 3rd may, and my uni ball is may 27th! i normally wouldn’t go if i knew i wouldn’t be allowed to drink/be in loads of pain… will i still be on the antibiotics then? and would they kill me on a night out after only 3 and a half weeks??

any advice appreciated! xx

hi hunn, i’m just over three weeks post op now (as you’ll be for your ball) and i’ve been going out drinking since 1 week post op! i was uncomfortable until around the 2 week mark but i’m MUCH better now so i think you’ll be fine. are you getting unders or overs? i had overs and you heal quicker with overs. But make sure you get a high neck dress as you’ll have to wear your support bra especially if your dancing etc as you don’t want to irritate the incisions (they have been cases of the opening up as far as 10 weeks post op from what i’ve read! but i’m sure that’s rare) x

Ahh thanks khanni! Yeah I’m a bit worried about finding a dress.. And will try not to do too much dancing! I wasn’t sure what the rules were on drinking either… I’m getting overs so hoping I’ll have recovered a little bit by then x

I had overs and was fine by week 3 apart from little twinges if I over did things so you should be fine hun. Your able drink as soon as you’ve finished your anti-biotics (if you’ve stopped taking pain relief tht is, but I had by about 1 week post-op) You’l have to be careful what bra you ware though….I went out 3 weeks post op and decided not to ware a bar was only out a few hrs but definatly felt the strain and couldnt wait to put my support bra bk on. Antibiotics is only taken for 5 days post op. And no alcohol especially after 48hrs post op.

If ur quite fit, u will recover better than those who aren’t. U will be able to move but no bouncing up and down!..

Haha ok I’ll try and keep the dancing to a minimum, will be gutted if they have a bouncy castle though! Ta hun xx

I was only given 3 days antibiotics and I drank on the third night but I think you are supposed to wait until stopped taking them as it makes them less effective. You’ll be fine to drink by your ball hun. x x
