Why can’t you drink a week before surgery? I have a party on the Saturday and surgery the following week Friday, so was wondering what would happen if I feel under peer pressure and had a few drinks??

Alcohol thins your blood chick, higher risk of excess bleeding. I’m sure a glass or 2 wouldn’t do too much damage but I wouldn’t go mad xx

@yasmin Hi hun, I had my surgery on tuesday and went out last wednesday and friday and drank both nights. My surgery went fine 🙂 Hope this helps xx

@Rebekah thanks babe that does a bit! Also I’m debating whether to book a hotel or not? I live about 1 and half away from the surgery and my sister is picking me up. I think I’d rather go home and rest there after the surgery rather then booking a hotel and moving in the morning? Is that a bad idea going home on the first night living 1 and half hour away? xx

I was told not to drink 2 weeks before my op. Personally I still went on nights out but didn’t drink. I gathered if that’s what they are recommending it was recommended for a reason. After how much I wanted it done and how much it cost I wasn’t taking any risks 🙂 I’m sure they recommend to stay near by to the hospital after your operation so I would book a hotel however 1 and a half hours away isn’t too bad, I know people feel differently after operations but I would say I felt well enough after my operation for a 1 and a half hour drive so if you really wanted to go home I don’t think it would be too bad, I had an over night stay in the hospital myself. @yasmin I live in stoke on Trent and had my BA IN Preston, which is roughly 1 hour 20 mins away. I had surgery about 12.30 and the nurse said I could leave at 4.30. I was just really tired and slept most of the way home haha. I think it’s what ever you feel is best for you hun. Personally I felt better coming home the same day.Im sure you wil be fine either way though xxx

From my consultation to op I had 9 days so the 2 weeks thing was impossible! But the pc told me on the quiet to just not drink 3 days before and it should be fine. I was the same as rebekah and drank up till them 3 days then stopped and my op went fine. Xx
