My pre op notes only say no alcohol 48 hours before hunni. I had a night out about 10 days ago and have had the odd glass of wine with dinner this week. If the notes say 48 hours, thats what I’m going with (it does say in case of specific surgeries you will have further instructions, but I just got those notes…) xxx

My nurse said two weeks because it aids bruising! First time I’ve ever heard that! I bruise in my sleep so I’m buggard anyway! I think you’ll be fine sweet? A few glasses isn’t gonna hurt? xxx

my nurse said none 2weeks before or 2weeks after – i had a white wine spritzer and a jager bomb 1 week before and ive had a wine and lemonade tonight (5 days post op) not sure if i should as i am on antibiotics but ive stayed in the whole of bank holiday weekend and i deserve just 1 … 🙁

You should be fine 🙂 xx

Alcohol decreases effectiveness of antibiotics and thinners the blood – thus no drinks before and after op. i was told 48h before op – no alc. and it is important. i think getting the surgery done smoothly and healing quick for me was the top priority.. so i could wait with drinking. must admit though i really enjoyed my first glass of wine this week! i had to go to dinners during no-alc period – i would not refuse to drink, and have wine in my glass, occasionally took a smaaaaaalest sip ever so made an impression i was drinking. regarding other excuses – u have to drive later or u are taking antibiotics now due to cold/flu/angina and have to finish the course, though u already feel fine.
    good luck with ur op!
