Hey, I’ve got my op in August it’s a while a way yet but it’s suddenly hit me and I didn’t sleep last night for worrying! ..anyone who’s had their op can you tell me what your recovery was like? I live on my own and ive read a few on here that said they struggled to even sit up and couldn’t pick up their water! ? .. I know everyone is different and I’m quite good with handling pain but this is scary! Also, my admission is 8am what time would in expect to be let home? Thanks girls!xx

My advice is stay in overnight if you can and if you won’t have help at home…maximise help from the hospital on the first day when it will hurt the most.

I think you have to have a chaperone pick you up and take you home and stay with you for 24hours anyway so you need a friend to help you out then…

It does get easier but if you are on your own you need to prepare your house so no things you need to wear or eat in high shelves take them all down and have them to hand and most importantly stock your fridge up with easy to cook or ready meals you can eat without too many pots or pans etc.

I had mine done on Friday and was in quite a bit of pain the first day but it gets easier each day and I’ve been on my own but had friends and family popping in each day to help me if I need it.

Hope that helps – don’t worry about it yet it’s ages away! Just make plans for it x

I don’t want to stay overnight that’s the only worry, I’d rather get home. My friend is being my chaperone but can they stay with me in there or do they have to keep themselves busy until I’m discharged?

My friend is only round the corner if I needed her but I was just concerned about through the night as I’m a light sleeper anyway!

I’ve not even thought about it as it’s ages away but I spent a couple of hours on here last night and read mixed comments and sort of scared myself! It’s gonna be here in no time! ?

Are you happy with your results so far? X

I would 100% stay overnight ! I thought I wouldn’t need to at first as everyone was just going home and breezing through it but I’m so glad I stayed – plus it all goes so fast anyway!! Il be honest I’m struggling with the pain and I thought I wouldn’t but everyone’s different .. I’d defo get someone to stay with u a few days at least – I can’t do anything atm ? xx

It’s only an hour drive away so I’d want to.get home and just relax there! It’s more expensive to stay over isn’t it?
How long has it been since you had yours? Are you happy with your results? What we’re you like off the anesthetic? X

I’m two days post op and have been fine. I mean the aching is constant and feels like a tun of bricks on my chest but I’m not in pain.

My arms are restricted, can’t move them up too high but in still able to look after myself. I would suggest you doing as much before hand to help yourself post op like making frozen dinners etc.

The girl next too me had a totally different experience and was kept over night as she struggled with the pain. It’s so difficult too know how your body will react ?

That’s what I’m hoping for! In and out, I really am not keen on staying over I’d rather be at home.
Haha! Husbands ey! ? ..I heard the anesthetic makes you really sleepy with occasional sicky feeling so I’ve been prepared for that.
My surgeon is Dr. Traynor so I’ll see what he suggests!
Are you happy with your results? I’m so scared and it’s months away so God knows what I’ll be like on the day!

I’m probably asking stupid questions now but what happens at the Pre-op? X

My admission was 10am I was in theatre by 1:10 and I don’t recall anything until about 3ish. Very relaxed and calm, the whole way through! Best sleep of my life haha.

I left by 7:30 as I had to wait to be seen which took a little while longer than usual.

Currently got the asda zip up front bras, they are really supportive but I’ve brought loads from D-F trying to work out the best size so keep reicepts lol.
