There are some good places abroad but personally I would stay away from that. Surgery is a huge deal; it’s better to be in a familiar environment in a country where you can speak the language. Some European countries use inferior products and techniques to cut costs…I don’t think that anyone needs reminding about the PIP scandal. Having surgery abroad also means more time off work because you won’t be able to fly straight away and even then, there are added risks with flying shortly after surgery, the most common being a DVT/blood clot which are potentially lethal. Plus if something goes wrong then you’ll need to fly back over there, and who knows if you’ll be in any fit state to do so. The legislation surrounding cosmetic surgery in other countries; particularly in Europe is much less stringent and I can tell you as someone who is studying law, medical negligence is extremely difficult to sue for; even more so in the cosmetic surgery industry. So there is no guarantee that someone can be ‘fixed’ if something goes terribly wrong.
In my view, surgery abroad is more trouble than it’s worth; I’ve heard a couple of success stories but I just really wouldn’t go there if I were you. Remember, you are entrusting your body and your life into someone else’s hands. This isn’t a decision to be taken lightly, so make sure you do lots of research and make the right one.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do xx
