So I’m due to have my op on Friday however on Sunday night I got cycistis (water infection) lucky enough i had antibiotics indoors and stared taking them straight away its a 7 day course. I feel like my water infection has cleared up already a feel fit for the op but I will still be taking my antibiotics where it’s a 7 day course. I want to ring mya just to let them know but I’m scared they will prospone op even thought I feel fine!! Which is something I can’t really do due to having booked time off work etc. Can anyone offer any information for me?? Or have a slightest clue what you think they may do??? Thanks in advance

when I had my pre op appointment with the nurse I had cystitis, and was in the middle of a 3 day course of antibiotics. she made it clear that it was good it had happened now rather than 3 weeks time when my op was, as I wouldn’t be able to go through with it. i experienced symptoms of cystitis a week before i actually went to the doctors, so i had it pretty bad by then. my doctor only perscribed a 3 day course of antibiotics and I bought those powdery cranberry drinks that you dissolve in water, to relieve the symptoms. after those 3 days i was absolutely fine! to be honest, i think it wil have disappeared by your op and before the 7 day course so I wouldnt really mention it as you don’t want to risk them saying you have to perspone when it will probably be all gone anyway! i had my op last tues and they asked if i was on any medication, also if there was any chance i could be pregnant, to which i replied no. all they did was made me sign a sheet to confirm about the pregnancy thing. They didn’t take a wee sample or make me do a test to prove it so its not like they would find the infection either even if there are slight traces in your system still! hope this helps x
