Hi ladies, I’m 5 days post ba. I’m a single mum and my 16mth old stayed with his daddy for the first few days after op & my mum has been helping since.
However, shes going back to work on day 7 and im back to normal mummy duties! Tbh, i feel great so reckon i’ll be feeling even better by Thurs. Also nurse said no lifting for 1 week and should be fine after that.
I just feel a bit nervous, like i’m going to damage my new boobies!
I dont have much choice though so just wanted some reassurance… xxx
Hey hayleylou, congrats on ur new boobies and that’s great you’re feeling fine. I had my BA on 28th October. I also have an 18 month old toddler who is very active and needs a lot of attention. My hubby went back to work on day 5 and I was so worried how I’d manage when I was on my own with him. It was fine, just make sure you’ve got everything you need at arms length so that you don’t have to stretch too much, i.e. get someone to take cups etc. out of your cupboards and put on the worktops and keep things in the fridge at a level you’re not stretching . My advice is that please don’t over do it. This is from personal experience. For the first week I had no pain whatsoever, it was great so after i got my tapes off on day 7 I was advised I could do light household duties again and back to driving. I totally overdid things in the house, lifting and stretching and by day 11 I was in such a lot of pain. Felt like someone was stabbing me in the boob! I was so worried I had done any damage or had an infection but after talking to my surgeon and nurse and sending them photos, they reassured me it was just overstretching my muscles by overdoing things in the house. I went back to square one, had to get my mum over and basically i did nothing for a whole week and went back to taking painkillers regularly! So please be very careful, I wouldn’t want you to feel the pain like I did but if you take things relatively easy and please don’t stretch or lift too much, then you’ll be just fine. Good luck xxx
Thanks for advice hun. That must have been awful. Youre right, I wont push it and I’ll try and avoid lifting him when possible. Its just in and out of the bath and cot really and having to restrain him whilst changing his nappy! lol. But what can you do?!!
Thanks again xxx
you’ll be fine hun, honstly, just dont overdo the stretching like me. Was my own silly fault lol! I was so dreading the nappy changing but it wasn’t bad at all. if I can do it hun, anyone can xxx
hya i have a toddler 19 month an a 6 yr old, ya just have to take it easy, you will manage cos theres no choice lol, only thing i found really difficult is bathing them and pushing the pushchair up hills, but other han that i was ok xx
hi hayleylou,
i am 1 week post op with a 2 year old, 5 & 9 year old. My husband took 1 day off and my friend helped me for next few days. I have been fine and managed to avoid lifting him. I was really worried about looking after him but to be honest its been no problem. Fingers crossed you’ll be the same xxx
