there’s no way i will be able to save 4000 by the middle of next year (when i was hoping to have my BA), just wondering if any young girls (im 18) got a loan for their op ? i apparantly have bad credit because this past year ive tried numerous times to get credit (finance for a car, loan, credit card etc) not realising each time youre rejected it goes against you on your credit file ! the only reason i was getting rejected was because i had no credit rating to start with (how am i supposed to get a credit rating if i cant get credit?!) but last month i took out a phone contract so im hoping this will build my credit score and i will be able to get a loan mid next year : /

I’m 21 and I got finance for my boobs through MYA I’d only been 21 for a week at the time. Phone contracts do build credit but not they’re not great. Have you tried getting a store card? If you can trust yourself to make sure you pay it back on time that helps build credit. Also I got a barclays initial credit card. Its for people with no credit and I only have a max of £800 on it. I used it to pay my deposit for my op (£500) then made sure I paid it back each month until it was paid back and by time I applied for the finance I’d built my credit rating and got accpeted :) hope this helps xx

I’m 20 and in the same boat. No credit cards or store cards and only have a phone bill. I earn a very good wage but still got rejected for finance with MYA. My mum has agreed to take the finance out in her name with her good credit history and the first payment comes out of her bank but then after the monthly payments will be changed to come out of My account. Maybe see if a parent or family member will have it in there name but change it to come out of your bank account?! X

I’m 20 I got finance with MYA except I have realt good credit rating with about 5/6 store cards I pay back without fail, mobile contracts I’ve always paid on time, car insurance ect you need to build your credit rating up by having things such as store cards xx

hi hun i wouldnt apply for anything else just yet as you will get declined due to all your previous applications which has dented your credit record. when looking to accept u, creditors will look at no. of applications in last 12 months so try not to apply for anything. paying your phone bill will help your rating. make sure you register on the electoral role at your address as this helps too. once it has been a year apply for a credit card like the barclay card intial or the capital one credit builder. you should then be accepted and so long as you pay them off each month you can start to build credit. if you save up and protect your credit then by June-August time you could be accepted on credit. Dont go for the best deal though (sounds silly) but they r only for people with excellent ratings, maybe opt for one which is a higher interest if you miss payments (then just dont miss payments) as youll have a higher chance of getting accepted.. hope that helps xxxxx

Hi, i did first medical loans with Mya. So was 0% for 12 months and worked out at £250 per month as my op cost £3850 and had to pay a deposit of £500 plus the other £200 on my credit card. And got £150 off by recommending a friend. If you can get 0% it’s better :)

Hey poppet, I’m 20 years old and in a full time job, last year my credit rating wasn’t good but I haven’t checked it since. I still got a MYA loan fine. I did put down a £2000 deposit, but they have different amounts you have to put down depending on the amount of time you want to pay back. I think a 35% deposit if you want to pay back over 18months, and then that amount decreases according to if you want to pay back over 12 months, or 6. I’m paying back over 12 months interest free. The best way to find out is to go along to a consultation and discuss prices, I know it’s daunting but so worth it to get the ball rolling. =) XX

Hey amychristina, did you apply for finance or did you not try at all? Just I’m in a similar situation, student and only earn around 500 a month and have car and things to pay for out of that. Its just I was hoping to get a small amount on finance as I already have 1500 saved and hoping to get ba next summer so will hopefully have a lot more by then. I also have a good credit rating but I think they don’t like th idea of giving credit to students :/ xx

Try Capital One. They will give you a credit card with a small limit, and if you use it then pay it back every month, it will boost your credit rating. Capital One give cards to people with no history so you should get one no probs. It was my first credit card and after a few months of using it I was being offered credit left, right and centre! Good luck. x
