Anybody had to take antibiotics pre op

I have 10 days till surgery and think I have an infection, just had my pre op this morning and they said I have to get it sorted before I have the op, they said I can take antibiotics but struggling to get an appt at my docs to get sorted, how long do you usually have to take them for and how long do they usually take to clear up the infection, on really worried now that my op might have to be postponed! x x

Get to an emergency dr’s today…. phone the NHS diect. Anti biotics are usually a 7 days course.

Thanks cuks, I am stressing oh so much, I have to sort out loads before the op, wish I could have had my pre op earlier, at least it takes my mind off the surgery. Will check on NHS Direct x x

I’m at highfield in rochdale with mr traynor. Who is your surgeon. I am so nervous. I just hope it doesn’t get cancelled x x

Yes hun, i did. Had a terrible tooth infection and was on antibiotics for about a month, right up till a week before the op. Nurse had a bit of a paddy but they let me go ahead x

A month is a long yome to take antibiotics. The nurse said I should be ok to have the antibiotics but they would need to be certain ones and I would have to take them up to the day of the op, I just hope the infection goes in time to have the surgery. x x

It was horrible. I kept ignoring the infection for almost a year until it got so bad i almost collapsed. They said I had to have it taken out before the op as mouth/ teeth surgery can be dangerous in the first few weeks after a BA. There is a high risk of infection and resulting CC because the mouth harbours so many germs. So I was on antibiotics till 6 days before the op, then again after the op (the ones from the hospital), as well as all the other crap they make you take. My poor body

oh gosh really, sounds awful,w were you scared of the dentist is that why they left it so long? i am just glad i can have antibiotics and still have the surgery as i am sure some people are on them during surgery, i need to double check everything but its all going to be such a mad rush. Did they tell you to come of the antibiotics before the surgery at least its all done and you have some boobs xx
