Arnica

So although Arnica is not scientifically proven to reduce swelling and Dr G doesnt advise it as he thinks its a waste of money, I have bought some anyway because it will put my mind at ease to know that I have done everything I possibly can to minimise swelling when I have my rhino done….

Ive got 6C and on the paperwork there are also instructions for Arnica 30C – does anyone know what the difference is between the 2 and if so which one is better for my type of swelling?!?

It says to take a dosage of 1 – 2 tablets every 2 hours for up to 6 doses or 1 dose 3 times a day, which should I follow?!?

Have you taken Arnica before and how long before your surgery did you start taking it?!?

personally hun i wouldnt take arnica as its known to thin the blood which isnt good when having surgery, some surgeon are totally against it, other girls on the forum will argue the case that thier surgeons would recommend it, xx

Hey honey, I started taking arnica the week before surgery as directed on the packet. I

got the 6c too – think the 30c is a higher potency but could be wrong.

Cant say that the arnica has done much tho…had my op yesterday and my eyes are still

black & blue and very swollen. Suppose it’s different for different people. I bought the arnica.

gel aswell to put on afterwards but am prob just gonna leave it and let them heal in their own

good time.

@Nikki – This is what I had heard too but again there is no scientific evidence of it doing this either which worries me but then I think so many people take it for the bruising so surly it must be ok as far as the thinning of the blood goes no?!?

@Jills3 – Happy healing hun, i hope you having a great experience so far!!! I am expecting some kind of bruising but i just want to do everything i can to minimise it you know!!! did you take it before your op aswell?!? Thanks guys xxxx

I had my pre op appointment yesterday and didn’t know what arnica was, the nurse just told me to get arnica 6c to help with bruising and take it 5 days before my op and 5 days after. She said not to take anything that thins the blood so it sounds strange to hear that arnica may do that!

She also said don’t eat garlic the day before the op as that thins the blood, never heard that one before!

Oh see yeah alot of surgeons do suggest it but my Dr isnt so I was abit iffed as to what to do because ive heard it mentioned so much for reducing swelling and It makes me want to try it as least if its safe to do so before my op, Im waiting to hear back from my PC just for confirmation!!! Its made to think that so many things thin the blood Im learning so much through getting my nose done!!! haha thanks Roch xxxxx
