Hello! I’m due my BA surgery in 2 days (9th August) with Dr. Traynor.
I’m 5ft 3”, about 9 stone and currently a teeny 32B. I am having 350cc textured round HP unders. Getting so excited now!
I’m wondering if there is already a WhatsApp support group for others having surgery this month…if not, would anyone like to join on one to support one another?

Hi I am having my op on Thursday 10th. Are you having it at Preston? X

Yeah, I’m here now! I’ll be going down to theatre in about half an hour! FYI, the sat nav on my phone took us past the hospital, across a little roundabout and up into a posh housing estate, so look out for the small hospital sign on the right. Says: H – a&e First Trust Hospital. It’s left there and you drive up what looks like a big driveway and then you’ll see the big entrance sign. My dad brought me, and we saw another woman walking with her case the same (wrong) way we went so we went back to get her too or god knows how she would’ve found it! X

No problem! Ah that’s ideal then. Everything went so well and I am feeling alright tbh. My throat has been killing all day though so take some throat lozenges if it’s not too late to pick some up. Best of luck for tomorrow – any questions just message x

I felt alright up until midday today…aches and tiredness hit me before though and I was in bed 12-6 just resting and snoozing. Feeling a lot better for it! Bloating/tummy aches have been a bit grim and I needed some laxatives which have helped today. I’ve been comfortable through the night, but I’m using a wedge cushion under my back and my old breastfeeding cushion around me so that’s helped loads! I’ve got to say, I’m really happy with my results so far. How has your day been? Xx

Hi Mary ahh that’s good to hear. I’m struggling to be honest didn’t think I’d suffer so much. It’s not being able to get comfy sleeping then keeping me awake all night. I also get like stabbing pains. Just hope this soon passes. How high do you have your pillows for sleeping?
I’m happy with results but not really thinking about it until all this pain goes. Xx

I have my surgery booked for 25th Aug in London. I’m nervous about the pain and recovery (more so because I have two young girls at home who are very clingy)
Does anyone have any post surgery tips? Xx

Oh Asha, I’m sorry you’re struggling to sleep, that’s the worst! You must be exhausted! This was my biggest worry about recovery, as I sleep awfully anyway and can only sleep on my front, but I have been so surprised as how this wedge cushion has been a game changer (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Northern-Luxe-Adjustable-Heartburn-Removable/dp/B09RZLVKHV/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1QG144QIGIWNU&keywords=45+degree+pillow+wedge&qid=1687985227&sprefix=wedge+pillow+45%2Caps%2C110&sr=8-3)!
I am also sleeping on the couch which is more snug because of the back of it acting like a cushioned wall so I don’t roll over. I will post a pic of the cushions in using and how high I have them. I’m honestly sleeping better than ever this way…

Hi, Catherine. I also have 2 little ones…3 and 6; my youngest always wanted carries and things too, so I was a bit anxious about this, but they adapted brilliantly! They’re very gentle and aware (they think it’s my upper tummy which is “sore”). They are quite independent children anyway, but little things have helped like leaving a little breakfast bar out if I’m slower to do breakfast, water bottles instead of constant top ups of drinks. If you have family who can mind them for a few hours between day1 and day 3, I would jump at that. We don’t, but we’ve used holiday club twice and it’s been really helpful. I also prepped a couple of teas (dinner if you’re southern!) and froze them so that it was just defrost in the microwave, and no opening the oven or bending down. But if that’s a bit much, don’t be afraid to let them live off toast and micro meals for a week! Needs must! My other tip I would say is that if you having a good day (hour!) and feel good…still rest!! It’s not your body telling you you’re ready to pick back up, it’s your body praising you for resting, and you need to do that more! I’ve made that mistake a few times, but I’m a very restless person and don’t cope well with being inactive. But as a mum, don’t feel guilty for needing to take a little step back…you’re allowed to heal! X

Have comfy pjs – button up ones. Rest rest and rest. My pain flairs up when moved too much( which isn’t often) have a v pillow and maybe the wedge pillow. I have just ordered the wedge after being recommended by Mary. I didn’t anticipate the pain being so bad so keep up with the pain killers. X

Aw I’m glad you’ve slept a bit better. That’s it, just rest as much as possible! It just goes to show how different it is for everyone. My pain has been 3/10 at worst and that was a few days ago now. But I breastfed my children and I think maybe I’ve not felt as much pain because my boobs are somewhat used to change and things? I’m not sure, but I feel very lucky anyway. Who did your surgery? Dr. Traynor did mine. X

Yeah I ordered the wedge pillow so fingers crossed I get better sleep then. As didn’t sleep as well last night! Oh wow that’s good – your pain isn’t bad – we are all different. I feel so tight again now. Yes I also had Dr Traynor- very similar to you. I thought because I had unders is why it hurts so much but I just realised you did also. I was only a A cup to start as well. Are you managing to do things in the day? I literally move from the bed to the sofa 😂! Xx

I think sleep is so important! It’s your body’s time to heal and rest, so if you’re not getting that, your pain is probably higher through the day. Really hope the wedge helps you! Yeah, I had unders too…I was a little B cup, but had no breast tissue above the nipple so had to be unders.
Yeah, started doing bits of light housework and getting out for an hour or so with my kids. I probably need to slow down a bit, but I just struggle with that tbh and feel better mentally for doing bits here and there. And because my pain levels are so low, I feel like I can potter about and it’s not affecting my recovery. I hope not anyway!
Ah don’t be hard on yourself! If you’re going from your bed to the couch then that’s progress and it doesn’t matter how little or big that looks, you mustn’t push yourself 💛 x

Thank you Mary 💞…. I seem to be going worse not better. It’s good you’re doing so well but be careful. I just hope I’ve hit a peak with the pain and then start to get better. Do you wear the Macon bra? I can’t wait to get it off – feels so tight. X

Oh no! When’s your post-op check up? Might be worth calling the clinic and explaining how you’re feeling. Feel really sorry for you 😢
I had my post-op check today and it went really well. She said it looks like I had them done a month ago, not a week ago so they must’ve healed really quickly! Yeah I’ve got a Macom bra and another branded one, but the Macom bra is better support I think. The only thing is it’s been really tight for me and my nips became very sore so I was taking it off and leaving it off for about 10 mins twice a day and putting lots of nipple cream on which I used when my daughter fed (she had a tongue tie so was painful).
How have you slept the past 2 nights? Has your pillow arrived yet? X

Hi Mary …. I’m still having such broken sleep. The pillow has arrived which I’m using – thanks. I think I will call them today as seem to suffer one side terribly – very tight and tender at the sides. Ahh am so glad all is going well. That’s a real positive. Ahh but hoping your nipples don’t suffer much more. Xx
