The night before I took a hot bubble bath and tried to relax into a good nights sleep, hmmm, didn’t work!! I watched the clock all night until I eventually decided to get up at 4am and to a few jobs, hung the washing out, put some washing in, disherwasher and then shower, hair washed and ready to go. I arrived at the hospital at 6am and right from the start, the staff were amazing. I was first to theatre which I was so relieved about. My hubby helped me to unpack then I sent him off to work, needed to be alone! The nurse admitted me and gave me a lovely Molton Brown gift set! She then took me through what was going to happen. I changed into my gown, stockings and sexy paper knickers and waited for Mr Kazzazi to come in and draw on me and take before shots. At this point I began to cry and both Mr K and the staff nurse were so supportive and told me I had nothing to worry about. The nurse gave me a big hug and then the anesthestic (spelt wrong!)arrived and again I became upset, I explained I was afraid that I was going to die and leave my children without a mother. Again he was great, saying there was more chance of that happening on the journey from home to the hospital. He then made me laugh by saying he was 2 weeks into his YTS and felt fully confident. Ten minutes later I was walking up to theatre feeling terrified, all the time the staff trying to put me at ease. I was put to sleep saying wow I feel so drunk. The next thing I knew I was coming round in my room where my friend, who 5 years ago to the day was going through the exact same thing was waiting. I was in and out of sleep for a while and then when I did wake up I was so sick. I had been given anti-sickness medicine in theatre but it had not been affective! Everytime I moved, had a sip of water I was sick. The staff hooked me up to a dip and gave me an anti-sickness medicine in a liquid, again not affective, everytime I woke up I was sick again. My temp was very low but I was burning up, that was the only time I thought jeez I’m scared now! The staff brought in a fan as they were plugging it in they noticed the drip wasn’t working. They asked me to put an anti sickness tablet inbetween my mouth and gum and I feel asleep again. When I woke up I had a sip of water and was sick, so I was given an injection and this time it worked! The staff managed to get the drip working as they were worried I was dehidrating. It was about 4ish when i started to feel ok. My hubby had arrived back by this time and we all had a good giggle with my friend telling us what I’d been saying coming round. They left at 6ish and I then felt ready for some toast and was given painkillers and antibiotics. I felt totally fine from then, relaxed, watch tv, was able to walk around my room. Mr K came to see me once more before he went home and was happy with everything. I didn’t sleep at all last night but I’m sure it was because I’d slept most of the day!! The nurses came and gave me painkillers again at 10ish and my obs were checked every 4hrs throughout the night. This morning I was more than ready for some pain relief everything felt extremely tight and I couldn’t take in a full breath. Again my obs were done and I had my lovely breakfast. By 9.30 a staff nurse came to take out my drains, which did not hurt at all and explain all the aftercare and medication to me, Mr K came to see me 1 last time and I was discharged. I have to go back on thursday to have my bandages removed.
All I can say ladies is that it really is nothing. I was terrified and even walking up to theatre I was thinking why am I doing this. The sickness was the worst for me but once that was sorted, I had a really relaxing time. The staff are so caring and supportive, infact totally amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
Advice
1 Take your v-shaped pillow in with you as they were just normal pillows in hospital and I could not get comfy on it but the minute my hubby brought it in it was fab.
2 Capri-sun pouch drinks as they are light to lift and its a bit of sweetness
3 Straws, if you have water as you not having to lift up the glass to drink
4 Magazines for middle of night if you can’t sleep as there was nothing on the tele!
5 Lip balm, my lips got so dry
Im home now, feeling sore and tight but fab with the results. I know its easy for me to say now and all your fears are natural, but you really will be ok and its so worth it. xxxx
glad to hear it went well, i am counting down the days and getting nervous at the same time!!! and thanks for the advice on what to take as i was only going to take nightwear and make-up!!!
xx
Hi! I’m so glad things were OK for you (apart from the sicknes). How is the breathing – I often have trouble getting a full breath (not for any reason) and I am more worried about this than anything else. If you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats before, what size did you have, and what size bra are you wearing now? I am so nosy!! Happy healing!! X
glad it went well apart from sickness thing i have 2 days to go so nice to read stories with ppl worried about the same as me (2 kids left behind if i die) thats my main worry i think xx
Hey perfectpru, I am size 8/10, 5″4 7st5, 32aa and want to be a C cup. I’ve had 325cc unders. Just in like a thick bandage tape at mo. But from the aftercare leaflet it says I should get a back size bigger sports bra, so the 32C’s I bought need to go back!! Just didn’t think about the swelling doh!!. Not nosey at all, anything else you want to know just ask, prob won’t be back on here till tomoz now as I’m in a bit of pain and soooo need to sleep xxx
Aicat01, I took me pjs but you only need slippers and a dressing gown as you wear a gown from the hospital hun xx
Kirsty, don’t worry, no sooner are you being put to sleep, you’re in recover, you’ll be fine xx
Hey ladies, just a little update, felt much better this time yesterday than today! Getting a lot of pain in my right boob where my drain was, when I try to move about! Feels like a pulling/burning kind of pain. Just rang Parkhill and its all normal so thats a relief. I was scared the stitches were pulling or something. As long as its not bleeding or weeping its fine. I do have 2 blood marks but they were there yesterday and they’ve got no bigger so its ok. Just wanted to put this down in case anyone else has this. Its a worry but good to know this site is around to help each other! xx

Hi Wifey,
Yep all done, really nothing at all, like you said. the worst bit was the sickness to be honest. Feeling really stiff and sore at mo and pain relief making me feel really light headed. Having a job moving about! well I’m gonna get my head down feeling shattered again. Hope you ok hun and are healing well xxx
Hey girls, I’m still struggling with my right boob where the drain was, feel like I’m having to hold it whenever I try to move because of the pain. Has anyone else had this problem? cheers xx

but i hope that you are feeling much better now hunni. Get loads of rest and keep us updated on your progress xx
Hey Tammy, yeah, getting a bit more mobile now. Decided to only take the co-codamol on a night as they really space me out which is horrible. Still have the pulling sensation in my right boob where the drain was but I’m back to have the bandages off tommorrow night so I’ll soon know if there is a problem!!
Ronnie – are you emotional at all today, all I’ve wanted to do is sleep and have felt quite weepy! My sister in law is a nurse and said that is perfectly normal around this point after under going surgery and that I should now start feeling better in all areas, just thought I’d mention it in case you were the same!
Hey Wifey – How you doing? Hope your recovery going well. Are you happy with the results? xx

Hi liegh,

And i will take all your advise on board too its really helpful!!! congrats on the new boobies and hope your feelin better xxx
Hiya misslau89,
Please try not to worry too much, I know its easier said than done, but you really will be fine and all the staff are truly fantastic. The hospital is really homely too which helps as you can really relax! I know how you’re feeling chick, everytime I thought of having it done my stomach went over, but I’m so pleased I went through with it, although I did nearly cancel several times in the run up to the op!! One more thing I forgot to put to take in was some facial wipes as they cooled me down a little, plus they are great to use under your arms, round your neck etc just to freshen you up a little!! Try to keep well and if you do feel even a little unwell get straight to the doctors. The sunday before I went in the left gland in my neck was pokeing right out and I thought it would have to be cancelled! I went to see the duty doctor and explained my situation, the doc put me on a strong dose of penecilin for 5 days and I totally rested for the whole week and luckily I was well enough to go through with it!. I was a bit naughty tho and didn’t tell the hospital as I thought they would just cancel it straight away, so luckily as I say I got rid of it so I had no need to mention it! Anyway, you’ll be fine hun, let me know if you’ve anymore questions and keep me informed with how you get on xxxx
Morning Liegh, was meant to ask you, do you have to put your sports bra on at the hospital or do you leave it until the next day? Panicking now because the bra’s that I have bought you have to put over your head then they do up at the back, their racer back style! Thinking I may have to go out this morning and get a different one. Last minute panicks now, lol! Debs x
Hey hun
you with be strapped up with like a thick tape bandage. It is strapped very tight so there is no need for a sports bra at all untill it comes off. I’m back at teatime today to have it removed and its at this appointment that you need to take a sports bra in. You need 1 back size bigger than what you are at moment xx Good luck sweetie, I’ll be thinking of you xxxx
Arh thank goodness, cheers Liegh. Hope you feel better with your tape off xxx
Argh, going for my tape’s off now, scared and excited at what they might look like!!!! xx
Wow ive just read all this as only just joined, im having mine done on the 25th im really excited but very nervous about when i come round from the anesthetic x
Reading your story has put me at ease so much though so im so glad you posted it!!! well ive just come off holiday and have a bit of cold so im taking tablets at the min so fingers crossed il be ok coz i dnt wana cancel it!! yeah if i think of anything i will ask you and i will keep you posted!! and thanks for the advise again!! hope it went well getting your tape off too xxx
hi how are you feeling today i not had any pain at all but i have not done a thing all week my hubby been good with the boys hope your feeling better now your tape off and your happy with then
Hey Girls, For those girls not had BA yet maybe best not to read on!!
Had the tapes off and I hate them OMG, All these years of waiting and hating having nothing! 1 is much more swollen than the other so hopefully I’ll feel better once they calm down a little. They look very fake at the mo and don’t feel a part of me at all. I can’t believe it, wanted a natural look but thats not what I’ve got!!! Gutted!!!
Oh no thats what im really worried about
I really want mine natural looking. Are you happy with the size or would you have gone any bigger? Im a 32a & dont know whether to go for a C or D. Its going to be so weird having big boobs
hey hun
Oh I don’t want to put you off, I’m feeling really down at the moment which I’m told is natural after surgery plus the fact its all you think of with the run up etc!
I am very swollen so hoping its just down to that with the way I am feeling about the way they look. It all depends on what you want the end result to be. I was a C cup before I had my 3 children then was left with nothing. It affected everything I did, wore and felt including my relationship with my husband. I had in my head that if I asked for a natural look, no bigger than a C cup, that I would look like I did 11 years ago before I had my first child! But realistically they are never gonna be the same as they were and you know that but on some level thats the shocker as they look totally different to that!!
Just really think about what you want hun, I’m going away mid week for a couple of weeks but will be in touch and let you know what they are like then as the swelling should be reduced a lot by then.
Sorry if I have scared you, not my intention at all, just a lot to think about and as I said I’m a bit all over the place at the mo xxx
Arh liegh thats awful! What did they say when they removed the tapes, it has only been a week and they do say that they heal at different rates. Sorry to hear your feeling so low, and your so helpful to everyone on here it doesn’t seem right. Keep your chin up sweetie, they’ve still got alot of settling down to do. xxx
oh, dear leigh, I hope you will feel better soon. All this waiting and all the fear you went through! It might just be because you had a certain image of your breats on your mind which didnt get fulfilled but as said above it takes some time til they heal and until they settled down. Hope those couple of days away will do you good!! Chin up my dear xxx
Hey girls, just got back from a lovely restful break in cornwall for a for couple of weeks and wanted to put an update from before as it was not at all positive!! I really didn’t like the end result but girls you do have to give them time to settle, every day that goes by, gets a little better and with plenty of rest this can happen sooner! I am really beginning to love them now and can see how fab they are looking, so don’t rush if you are feeling a little disappointed, take into account the fact that your emotions are also all over the place as what you have been through is major!! Swelling has to go down which after 23 days mine are still a little swollen and the bruising is still visable!! I just wanted to put this on as I was very down with mine and knowing others were feeling the same would have put me at ease! xx
