BA day today – my story

Hi girls

Quick update for you all! Was in highgate for 6.45 and went down to surgery at 8.30, was first in but they had me down for the wrong implant size so put them right ASAP! GA was great, the canula which I was most worried about was fine, feels weird when the anaesthetic goes in, I felt it go in my veins and my right shoulder but wasn’t unpleasant, then came to seconds later in recovery with a very sore throat!

Back to room but couldn’t sleep, had a reaction to the GA so was feeling sick and dizzy but nothing too serious, but had a lot of pain in my left boobie, so ended up with tramadol followed by morphine followed by a paracetamol drip, and 3 lots of anti nausea drugs too. Mr Singh said I could leave about 2 but the nurses wanted me to stay later as I had low blood pressure and lots of drugs. I eventually left at 6.30 and wrapped myself up in a duvet in the back of the car, got home 8.10 and now wide awake!

The nurses at highgate are fantastic, cannot praise them enough. However, I did have a bad experience with one of the doctors who was very nasty and at one point when I was in pain told me everyone gets pain, get over it! I had to fight to get tramadol because I can’t take cocodamol or codridamol, and in the end he reduced me to tears -that’s not like me as I am usually the first to stick up for myself. Suffice to say a complaint will be going in.

I have the tape around my boobs so what I can see of them makes them look small, but it takes me two full hands to cover them! I had a sneaky measure to see if my spare sports bras are going to fit and I know the size will def change but am measuring 34DD!

Thanks to all of you who have been there to support me over the last few months, through my panics and stresses over implant sizes. I am now the proud owner of 400 soft touch extra high profile overs!

Good luck to all the girls with their ops coming up, as much as I thought I’d be bored at the hospital the day flew by.

Meant to say, you will be given cocodamol when you’re discharged but it can bloat you and cause constipation, so although I had to fight my corner you don’t have to get what you’re given, I insisted on tramadol and they eventually gave it to me. Think it’s the most expensive but you’ve already paid for it so get what works for you. I also got a large box of paracetamol and ibuprofen! x

Oh you’ll be absolutely fine, the staff are so lovely and the anaesthetist I had was fabulous, they bent over backwards for me, you will enjoy it don’t worry! Good luck!

Mine was on thurs but had to move it til fri at 1130 now cos i was originally booked in for a time when nurse wasnt even there lol. Have you gotta keep the bandages on for the first four too? wonder why some do and some dont?! guess it depends on surgeon. Hopefully i haven’t cut too much of the top off! released a bit of pressure from my neck and chest though!x

I wonder what it will feel like without the tape, how will mine stay upright, they feel so heavy at the mo! Have to wait 4 days as well, roll on Sunday when I can see them for the first time! I was supposed ti be Friday morning but was something like 9.30 and I didn’t want to do the trip on the tube feeling really sore as it’s really busy at that time. Maybe we’ll get our 6 week checks with Mr S at the same time and can catch up then x

I am in Highgate on Tuesday for mine. Can you ask for tramadol instead of the cocodamol? as I have had cocodamol before and didn’t find they worked on the pain I was in. x

Yes you can have whatever you want, I think they like to give the cocodamol as it’s cheaper for them but they don’t work for me and make me feel v sick, I kicked up a bit of a fuss and they gave it to me, it’s your body and you know how best to manage pain, I got paracetamol and ibuprofen as well because you can take both with tramadol which you can’t with cocodamol x

great story hunni found it in the end lol bet u glad u got tramadol im surprised u had to ask & fight for it, as they gave me mine anyway all i mentioned was that co codemol dont work for me that was it lol happy healing xx

Little update, despite managing to not sleep after all the drugs I had yesterday they have finally caught up with me, have finally managed to sleep and feeling v drowsy even now – I even managed to sleep sitting propped up, that’s how tired I was! My PC called earlier and was lovely and said I only need to sleep upright for a couple of days, so if it’s more comfy lying properly it’s ok, hooray!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, it’s v weird having people say I have nice boobs, never thought I’d hear that!!!
