BA on Friday 27th at Highgate and I have tonsillitis…. :-(

Have had a sore throat for a couple of days now and it was getting worse so went to see the drop-in doctor today who has confirmed that I have tonsillitis.

He has given me 7 days of penicillin (this will take me to the day after my op)

The doctor says that as long as the infection has gone, and it should be by day 6 of the antibiotics, that there is no reason why the surgery can’t go ahead…..I then called a nurse who was on duty at Highgate hospital and she said that it would be up to the Anaethestist and Mr Singh on the day.

Has anyone else had a similar experience or know of anyone that’s taken antibiotics leading up to an op???

I’ll be gutted if I have to reshcedule but obvioulsy have to be safe.

hi hun , i had a water infection the week beofre my op and was on antibiotics, i still had it on the day and was so worried they would do a urine test and cancel it ! but it all went ahead and no urine test, i must say that i kept it quiet and maybe told a few white lies !!!!! all worth it tho it was gone the next day!!! x

haha well id had my heart set on that day since i was 15 and id booked time of work and so had family and boyfriend i didnt want it being postponed, i felt fine it was just my silly bladder playing up x

dnt have i clue were all the posts have gone ha , aww well im sure it will be fine x
