I had my consultation today & I’m seeing a surgeon next week, and all being well I’ll be having a BA mid-November.
I have a 2 year old and 11 month old & I’m just wanting to know how the pain is afterwards, honestly? My hub can take a week off work but I’m just worried about after that. Some sites say it’s not that bad, others make it sound awful, so I was just hoping for some honest opinions. I’m worried about lifting.
Thanks
My op isnt until next week but I have a 6 year old daughter and a 7 month old son and my partner is self employed luckily so can take time off but on the other hand he usually does the fun playing things with the kids where as im the one doing the nappies, meal times etc as i am at home all day which dont get me wrong im not complaining about and i dont mind at all i love my kids and i get plenty of fun time with them as well but im just not sure how many of my normal ‘duties’ i am going to be able to manage?!
Hi Girls,
I have my BA and uplift booked for next Tuesday
I have a 15 month old and Im also worried about the lifting etc. I have 10 days off work and my Mum and Mother in law have a week booked off and my hubby has said he will do the bathing, feeding, bedtime etc but I think Im going to feel really bad when I cant pick my little boy up and give him a cuddle or if he wakes up in the night and I cant go and just pick him up?!?
x x
I’m in a simular preicament. i have my BA in 2 weeks! eek. Hubby has only a week off… my children are a little older but my younger son has autism. so, i cant say it’ll be easy lol… but, making sure that all the things out of reach are put within reach.
It’s not the pain thats of concern (c’mon we’ve given birth!!?? pmsl)… it’s allowing the BA to heal without over stretching or over doing things. xxx good luck. bet you can’t wait!
Are you having unders or overs? i have a 3 year old and only just started to pick her up and i’m 4 weeks po after having unders and even then it feels strange. My friend had hers done though with a 1 year old and managed pretty much on her own. I just want to make sure i stick to what the nurse has told me. In terms of how you feel will depend on you and how well you recover, i was out the next morning dropping my daughter off at school and felt fine. xx
You’re right charlotte about giving birth lol!
Not sure if I’ll be having overs or unders as I haven’t seen the surgeon yet. I’m more concerned about doing damage than the pain really…don’t want to mess anything up!!
im having overs hun, what did the nurse tell you about what you are and aren’t allowed to do?
I was of the same train of thought charlotte in that i have given birth and then was stood at the kitchen sink washing the dinner pots 2 hrs later so expected to be doing the same after my BA! The more i hear from people though the more i think i might be over estimating what i will be capable of… only time will tell i suppose… if i physically can’t do something then i guess it just wont get done and if that means my little one sleeping in my bed as i cant lift him in and out of his cot then so be it as i doubt i will get much sleep anyway as i like to sleep on my front which is out of the question x
Yep Emma you’re right, I keep thinking oh I managed when I had my youngest, back to normal a day later cos I had a 16 month old to look after too, but I guess it’s a different type of pain/healing. Patient coordinator said no lifting for 3 weeks I think but I’m not sure I can do that….argh. There must be others in the same situation so I was wondering what they’d done.
I was expecting it to be more painful, its just uncomfortable. the main reason i really wanted to take it easy was because having paid nearly 4k i didn’t want to ruin them xx
That’s why I’m worrying….don’t want to mess something up, pain (to an extent) I can kinda take, but not damage lol!
i’m sure you will be fine, i doubt your 11 month old will weigh too much anyway, your 2 year old may take advantage though, mine knew i couldn’t pick her up and put her on the naughty step when her dad wasn’t there so tried it on quite a bit
xx
i came home to 5 kids when i had mine done and my hubby was on nights for the first week and i was fine, my youngest are 2 and 3….i had no pain at all just felt tight.
i was hoovering and out hanging washing on the line at 4 days……the only thing i did not do was lift my youngest for a few weeks xx
i take my hat off to you kitty i dont think i could cope with 5 kids before a BA let alone after one! i love my 2 to bits but once you have kids you never have a spare minute to do anything x
hey i have a 7 year old and a 14 month old and this is my big worry aswel. im dreading not being able 2 pick my youngest up
hes a mummys boy n i reckon we’re both gonna find it hard cos i luv pickin him up n cuddling him as much as he does
we will manage though and it will be worth it in the end. havin my op 29th nov. xx
lol samemka xx
I am 3 weeks post op on saturday, i have a 2 year old and a 15 month old. My other half took a week off work and then obviously i was left to it. I felt absolutely fine, no pain etc and i was still around them that week, avoiding being jumped on!I didnt lift my daughter, the youngest all week which was very hard as shes really clingy but come day 7 i was getting her in an ou of chairs, cars etc feeling fine!
If i can cope then anyone can and like whats been said if you can deal with labour and kids then this is a doddle! Im not even a full 3 weeks post op and im completely back to normal with carrying them etc. Enjoy the week off! Xx
Thanks boardman, that’s made me feel a lot better.
im 5 weeks PO, i have a nine yr old and my baby was 7 months when i had my op, i had help 24/7 for the first week, and didnt lift baby at all, 2nd week i took it easy and kind of scooped him up, by week 3 i was fine, max wasnt clawling thoigh so i guess that made it easier, take all the help you can get! good luck! xxxx
