Understand that you can’t get your incisions wet until you’ve had the all clear after a week or so but just read that some girls still can’t bath after weeks and are having showers. Why is this? I actually don’t have a shower in my house, just baths :S haha xx

I’m 17 days post op and I can’t get my nipple lift incisions wet. I can only have shallow baths and wash my hair over bath x

It’s just to make sure your incisions don’t get infected or irritated when you use soap. I actually had a bath but without bubbles a few times just to reassure myself that the incisions were clean x

I’m 5 weeks PO and I still can’t have a bath. Even though the incisions may be closed on the outside but it doesn’t mean that they are healed. Your PS has cut through several layers of tissue and fat so your boobs have been through a lot, obviously.

If you don’t have a shower then your just going to have to take shallow baths x

I was given the All clear at my one week post pop appt last week, I’ve healed well

    So I’m all clear x x

My scars healed really well too and I had my stitches out one week PO but the nurse still said no x

But if they’re closed on the outside then surely that’s what matters? Will it be ok to just use unscented/gentle soap and no bubbles and things do you’s think? I think it would be more detrimental to myself to not wash for 6 weeks rather than get scars wet! xxx

I just had my po an my nurse told me to only shower, because no matter how clean you are ur sitting in dirty water an can cause imfection, u can have a shallow bath but not deep bath for 6 weeks until ur surgeron has given all clear so its best to just shower or have a very shallow bath. if ur nurse gave u all clear did she say u can bath? cos mine said to definately not bath i made sure i asked xx

After a week if given all clear can shower, with bath water mostly we use products and sit in the water for a while allowing our incisions to become deeply penetrated.. So it’s quite different. I’d just ask your PC, they are the experts z

Not necessarily, I’ve been told to dry them with clean towels and keep them as clean as possible as you can still get an infection even when the incisions appear closed as they may appear closed to the naked eye but you still may have small openings.

Personally I think you should call your nurse before making any rash decisions…some people get infected easier than others, you don’t want any gross scar tissue because of infection….Best thing to do is follow the nurse/surgeons advice as they have trained for years, have far more experience and they know what their talking about. But it’s up to you really….x

My surgeon said I was fine to take baths from about 3 and a half weeks (a week after I got my dressings off at 12 days), so long as I don’t completely submerge the incisions and keep them soaking for long periods in the water. If I use the bath I just fill it to below the incisions and mainly just sit up rather than lie back so the bath can still be quite full. I don’t use bubble bath anyway and I tend to wash the incision area first while the water is clean. I’m 5 weeks post op.

If you haven’t got a shower you simply don’t have the option to use it so I’m sure there’s a way you can use your bath cos you need to stay clean lol, just ask the nurses for further advice. x

Flicky1. The nurse gave me the all

Clear to shower at 7 days post op. it does happen. She is a trained medical professional.

The best advice is to speak to your OWN nurse. Personal/individual care
