Do you have to take your belly bar out when having the op or is a plastic 1 ok?

Plastic is fine, people keep plastic nipple bars in. I kept all my dermals and ‘lady bits’ in (tape covered my dermals and I never mentioned the others) xx

Haha thanx Hun, was just abit worried coz Im guessing I wouldn’t be able to move enough to put it back in after and my mom is comin with me and she would freak out if I asked her to do it coz she is abit squimish, bless her haha

I know what you mean, there’s no way my ‘lady ones’ go in easy, and my fella would struggle, I got him replacing my tongue bars, which was hard enough.

I’m sure Argos do a bio flex one, meant for when your pregnant, so that should be brill xx

I took mine out and was fine putting it bak in myself the next day but everyones different I guess might be best to get a plastic one just to be sure xx

Yeah I’d put a plastic one in him, they will still need to put a plaster over it. But metal can sometimes heat up in the body when you’re under general aneasthetic. Not quite sure how that happens lol but it can’t be a nice feeling. So that’s why they tell you to take them out as well as infection control xx

The reason they tell you to keep all piercings/metal out of your body during surgery is that the instrument they use to stop any heavy bleeding uses electricity.

    Electricity + metal = shock

I have 4 dermals, and 14 piercings in total, during my consultation i mentioned this to my surgeon and he said i could keep them all in, but he would have to make a note of it so during surgery they have to use other methods of ‘mopping up the blood’ you could say :)
