Hey, I’m 2 weeks post op and just got a bill from the hospital for the meds I was sent home with from the hosp – i.e. the antibiotics and painkillers.

Was just wondering if all post op girls got charged separately for this?

I had just assumed it would be covered in the total cost by MYA… x

nope no charge and i’m with the girls thats what I paid for in the costs, if there was no mention about it prior to your op then they can’t charge you.

It may be a mistake from the hospital so just call to confirm. xx

Hi hun, I think the hospital has made a mistake. Whether you go with MYA or direct to the surgeon/hospital, the fee covers usual post-surgery medications like painkillers and antibiotics. I’d call your PC, send the invoice her and ask to get this sorted.

Looks like a simple mistake, but it’s nicer not to have to deal with these things when you’re recovering from surgery. Don’t worry about it.

    Happy healing,

    K.

I also have received a bill, as did Lynz28.

I haven’t paid mine yet. It’s only £10 but I don’t see why I should pay it when I can get the drugs they gave me free on the NHS AND I paid £3750 for the operation. Did I have the pay for the tea and toast in there? no. To watch the tv? No. To flush the toilet? No. To breathe the oxygen the provided? No. So why the hell should I have to pay for painkillers?

    Rant over.

    Not impressed.

I’ve just got a bill through the door this afternoon!!!! It was only for £5 but I’m with Clair, why should we have to pay for pain killers when we’ve just paid thousands for an op? I would have assumed that the price was for everything you recieved on the day. They pumped me full of morphine in recovery and I haven’t had to pay for that, so why the discharge drugs? Bit confusing really :-0

Surely this is something they should tell you about if they are going to charge??! Although the majority of people would say the same “are you kidding, 4K for an op and you want to charge me for tablets” sounds a bloody joke to me lol x

Not a happy bunny. Yet some others seem not to pay?

Wish it was the same across the board. Some clinics seem to do different from others on quite a few things.

NOway. Do not pay. I never got a bill. Ur price is all inclusive. Xx ring pc asap xx

Everyones price includes full aftercare because I checked at the initial consultation! Dont pay girls there is defo a mistake! Maybe its because the hospital deals with lots of patients who do pay for their meds with other companies or something and they dont double check…xxx

I’m with helenlouise89- don’t pay!! I was told the same every thing after (aftercare) is included. This should def come under that. If I got it I wouldn’t pay. I’d hand it over to your pc’s. Xx

I had to pay for a blood test, pre op,my GP did it and charged me 28 pounds because i was having private surgery, but i didnt go with MYA.

    Menu

When you get your information pack from MYA at your very first consult it says in there terms and conditions that all medicines etc… are covered with the inital fee, you deffoo dont need to pay. xx

Definitely going to hold off paying then! To be honest was pretty shocked when the bill came. £14.35 isn’t much but you’d think it’d be covered.

    Really not impressed.

Oh well, have texted my PC and guess will wait for MYA Moderator to keep us informed…xxx

So.. spoke to my PC, Karen today. She has confirmed that we shouldn’t be getting billed for discharge medications, and this seems to be a mistake that has just started affecting a small group of people for some reason. The hospital shouldn’t be sending out bills to us personally.

I have been advised not to pay and bring the invoice I was sent in the post to my 6 week check.

(To any Glasgow girls – Karen has said to just get in touch with her if this has happened to you.)

hmmmm thats a weird one lol, I had my surgery in Glasgow and was never sent a bill, was probs just a admin error, I wouldnt worry bout it

    Menu

my surgery was in glasgow and the hosp sent me the bill for £3.60 for the antacids (i have no idea where ive put the invoice but i do have it on my bank statement) i also had to pay £10 over the counter for the antibiotics (they gave me tablet form instead of liquid form so couldnt take them) and when i went back for a wound review i thought i was guna have to get more antibiotics and nothing was mentioned bout not having to pay for it, only that i might get the £10 back that i had already paid out so i would still have paid a total of £13.60 if i was prescribed more. i just thought it was normal that i had to pay out for the antibiotics with me having my BA privately :-| will text karen today and find out x
