Just a couple of quick q’s girls!!
1) i know alot of you post op girls have complained about a bloated or swollen belly after the op, do you know what caused this? was it possibly meds? was tum painful itself? how long until it went back to normal? is there anything you can do to prevent or make it go away sooner?!
2) also, i know each boob is a separate op and so healing is differet for each one. that said, lots of you have had one be more swollen than the other so i was wondering how common this and for how long it lasted until they evened out? how long in total did it take for u for swelling to completely go down?
thank u!!
The cocodamol causes the bloating. In all honesty you can get away with only taking paracetamol or neurofen for the pain if needed at all. Drop the CC and you will feel better in a few hours.
It’s very common for one breast to be more swollen that the other. They might even look wonky, different sizes, one more bruised etc. It will take a good 2 – 3 months before they really start to settle down, and will take up to 12 months, sometimes even beyond to settle completely xx
The bloating is also caused by the GA, I didn’t suffer too badly at first then it set in a few days later. I never took any of the co-dydramol that contains codeine as it can make u constipated. I immediately started taking my movicol sachets and by Day 2 my bowels were functioning normally.
Swelling in the boobs. My right one was a lot bigger than my left and at first quite uncomfortable and obvious. I am now 16 days PO and I would say I noticed the swelling almost disappear overnight about day 13/14. This is my strongest side too and apparently it’s common for ur strongest side to take longer to settle.I’ll be honest it worried me at first but the girls on here reassured me it was normal and it did go.
Hope this helps, ur welcome to see my pics as they show how the swelling is x
Im day three PO and im feeling bloated so stopped the cocodamol and also my right boob is much more swollen then the left looks different size but im not worried as the nurse said this would happen and is normal. sure we will all even out sooner or later lol xx
I wish I’d been able to stop taking my painkillers earlier, I needed mine until day 6/7 as had a rough time
I didnt go to the ‘toilet’ for one week after my ba and was in agony when I did…not good!! Do what you can to make yourself regular as soon as you can!!!!x
i never took pain relief. just a couple of parecetmol… but was still bloated. my tum is a tad wee bit swollen now still (2 1/2 weeks po)… the anestetic and not moving alot and also eating and not excerise, i believe has what caused mine.
Drinking lots and lots of water should help hun… but, mosy people do experience bloating. as for the boobs looking different, we all heal so differently and each boob is classed as a seperate opertation. but, do call your nurse if you are concerned. my right boob is still quite high and not really dropped. whereas my left looks great.
happy healing.xx
