Any1 kno why tht happens, i kno its sumthin to do with the anestetic but anythin else that can make u prone to them…ive got really bad circulation, my feet go BLUE frequently and ive got my para pants on now thnking its gona be me lol xx

I am the same 2 kids and this keeps putting me off for the same reasons, but 1 in 10 billion makes me feel better lol. Is that why they make you wear them stockings, for blood clots…xxxx

I’m the same I’ve been thinking about a BA since having my daughter and I now have a son as well, I’ve got my first ever consultation on Friday and told my mum, she said I’m stupid to risk my life when I have two kids when there’s nothing wrong with my boobs there just a small 34 b no loose skin, the only thing putting me off is the anestetic and blood clots :( x

i have this thought at the back of my mind too hun, but i just keep thinking that we all do way more riskier things in life everyday, so so many more people die in car accidents etc that having an op, and none of us really care about getting in cars or anything! it really scares me too, but i just keep thinking in this way, i think it’s so easy to get worked up about things we read in the paper, but because it is so so rare we take way more notice when a story about it does come up! i know this probably doesn’t really help your nerves, but seems to be keeping me more calm, have got my op on 17th Feb! :) xx

Hi hun, I had a blood clot in my arm a few years back was quite serious and my surgeon explained to me I was a higher risk than others for getting another 1 but I have been fine since my BA. Just keep motivated afterwards like walking around gently to keep circulation going plus the stockings and you will be fine if I am sure you will be and as you can imagine I was terrified like you :) hope this helps xx

*Wear your TED stockings for about 2-3 days (or longer if you can put up with them!). *Try to keep as mobile as possible. *When your in bed remember to do your feet excersises (moving your feet up and down and around in circular motion). *Don’t fly long haul for about 6 weeks. *Don’t fly short haul for about 2 weeks.

If you experience pain around your calf area, redness around your calf area, if the area feels hotter than the rest of your body, it might look a bit swollen. If your having shortness of breath or difficulty with your breathing, you should contact your nurse immediately or go to a+e to be checked out! It’s is rare with a BA to experience blood clots, but as with any surgery that causes you to be immobile for a little while, this is a possibility.

    Hope that helps!
