Can always rely on google to scare me!

I asked my PC if breast cancer is still easily detected with implants and she said yes but I’ve done the stupid thing of googling and seen on an American website that although implants don’t cause cancer, they can make it hard to detect as tumours can be behind the implant! It also said rupturing is very likely down the line! Does anyone know anything about this??? Xx

Hi I have been told that when u go for boob checks for cancer you need to tell them you have implants as they need to scan you differently to some one who hasn’t. Don’t know how true it is. But cannot for the life of me remember where I heard this sorry. So really I’m not much help at all lol xxx

I’ve read girls with implants cant have the manommogram (think its spelt right) as it squeezes your boobs together so could cause rupture? So they do an mri scan insead? Also unders are supposed to be easier to detect cancer as the implant is behind the muscle? Hope this helps a little? X

Hopefully I can put your minds at rest…. I have had several checks since having my BA. You tell the person doing the check and I had ultra sound and not a mammogram. I asked the lady if implants make a difference and she said no. The implant is still behind the breast tissue on overs so the radiographer is scanning the actual tissue. In some cases she said it made it easier for girls that were small to start as it pushes the tissue off of the ribs.
