can i get acrylic nails (white tips) done before my ba?

my nurse said i can have acrylics on as long as there is no nail varnish on them. so i guess i can have white tips as the tips are underneath the acrylic?

help please!! i feel horrible without my nails! x

really ur nurse said that? i thought ur nails HAD to be bare so they can clip the thing on ur finger to test ur pulse and its impossible with acrylic in the way and also because of the germs or something :S xx

Yeah, the acrylic can give an inaccurate pulse reading and also lets bacteria into the operating theatre. Also, in the pre op info pack it says to remove everything, and while I was at the hospital the nurse even checked my toes to see if I had acrylics on. If I were you I would just have them taken off; I love my acrylics too, and when it was my op it was the first time I’d had them off for more than a couple of hours in 6 years! I went and had them put back on the next day so you’ll survive without them for a day or two. x

My preop pack says remove false nails. Strange why she’s said that to you. Id just take them off to be on safe side hun xx
