If I was you honey,I would wait a little bit longer, you have done absolutely fantastic not smoking for 3 weeks,I would’nt take any chances, some people continue to smoke and have no problems they are the lucky ones,I personally don’t think its worth the risk. Smoking can also compromise the results of your procedure.

Smoking constricts your blood vessels and inhibits the binding of oxygen, lowering the amount of oxygen that is available to your cells. Insufficient oxygen impedes your body’s ability to heal after surgery and increases your risk for wound separation, skin death and raised, red scars. As a smoker, you will also have a higher risk of post-surgery infections than non smokers.Hang in there danniix you are doing fab,big hugs, xxxx

Dani if u can do three weeks without a cig then stick with it gal – WELL DONE!! U dont need to smoke just give it up – wish i could do it so well done you.

I smoked 15 a day pre op and post op and it has in no way compromised the results of my procedure. I only had 3 cigs on the day of my op. I have had no infections, no problems with my healing and healed really really well.

You know hun you don three weeks so just give em up xxx well done again

Oh no one told me that, I read somewhere to try cut down or quit 7-10days after but it’s hard after years of smoking! I’ve had probably 3 maximum a day so it should be fine surely? X

    Hi Ladies

Just to confirm smoking significantly cuts down the blood supply to the skin so radically cut down prior to surgery and stop altogether some weeks prior to your surgery.

Furthermore, smoking after you have had your op can significantly affect the healing process so your MYA nurse will recommend when it is safe to start smoking again.

Any queries please call your nurse or private message the mod.

Why do you want to pick up another cigarette, you’ve done so well not smoking for this long, think of how much money you’ve saved already, and what nice underwear you can buy in a few weeks……. keep it up, don’t pick up another ciggie xx
