Can I keep my nipple piercings?

I currently have my nipples pierced, and have read I will need to take them out for the op, but does anyone know if I can put them back in again after the op?

unfortunatley it is not something they will allow u to put back in right away incase they cause infection or problems with them healing, i only know this as a mate had hers done put them back in when told not to and it made her boob get infected really badly.
