CAN I STILL USE TANNING INJECTIONS?

just wondering, iv been using tanning injections for a year now, so they are quite permanently in my system now anyways. will it harm me to have a few a week before surgery just so i can keep my colour topped up withought any sunbeds.

I know they say not to apply fake tan 7 days prior to surgery and not to take any self prescribed medications for 2weeks prior to surgery, so i’d have thought if it was over 2wks before you’d be fine.

Best thing to do is phone your nurse and just check.

Are they legal?

Can you still use wash on wash off fake tan in the 7 days up to your op? I have the Rimmel 24 Hour stuff that goes on like foundation but leaves me a pasty ghost after i’ve showered LoL x

theyr sold on websites but wouldnt get u in trouble, they just havent been out long enough to know the long term side effects. but u only live once lol. i might just chance it as its not medication. yeah youl be aloud to use instant tan chik x

I’ve just googled tanning injections and it is a synthetic hormone, so I would def check with your nurse as this may well interact with the medications given to you during/after the op. There’s no point risking your life!! (or your expensive new boobs!!!) xxx

Do the tan jabs work? What do you do? A jab a week or something? x I used to abuse sunbeds… half an hour+ everyday, sometimes twice a day! Was lush and tanned for 2 years straight but then I got a bit weary of skin damage etc so stopped.

Love spray tan and self tans but hate having to go patchy waiting for it to wear off so i can re apply. My new fave thing is instant tan but its an expensive hobby! LoL Use about 2 or 3 bottles a week! x

sounds scary! i wouldnt use these pre op hunn, steroids can cause problems with bleeding when you cut yourself nevermind a full on surgical incision so not worth the risk xx

missmick you have one 10ml jab everynight for 10 days, then once a week after that, dont need to use sunbeds as its pigment, but can use once a week for best results. xx

My boyfriend is a bodybuilder so he has to tan up whenever he does competitions… He was mentioning these tanning jabs the other night to me… Might look into them after my BA… Lets do one thing at a time! LoL x

lol, theyr a much better option than sunbeds to be honest like, they wer actually produced by scientists to prevent skin cancer, not cause it, as it stops u from burning or gettin harmful uv rays. just like a foriegn persons skin. and theres no clart on with fake tan either, i recon the bad rumors u hear about them r caused by people too scared to use thm maybes? lol. i have pics in my album u cn see how dark they make ya chick xx

Fake tans such a hassle… Always an extra 15 minutes added on to my getting ready time even for work and stuff!

Think you cant put fake tan on just as it increases the risk of infection. Your tan is fab!!! Have you had any side effects at all with these injections? I used to use sun beds but dnt get chance since Iv had a baby so these may be an option. Gd luck for tues!!! I was a 34A had 525cc I’m now a 34 E/F!! love my new assets xx

Hee…..do they wrk? and did you have side effects? dnt no if i could inject myself though!! I did notice tht is was sitting slightly higher and now I’ve been massaging it I can feel the difference. I only saw him for 5 mins but hesaid to call bk if any problems. xx

Yeah they do darlin…you still need to go on the tanning beds to stimulate the pigmentation but on for like 6-9 min a week. The only side effect ive had is feeling sick and looking a bit purple in the first 2 weeks lol.

What do you measure now hun? How was MYA with you when you went to the appointment? My nurse made me feel really awkward on the phone so im not looking foward to my appointment….if i ever get one lol xxx

It’s best to not use either of the melanotan peptides (melanotan-1 “afamelanotide/Scenesse” or melanotan II) when you are going to be undergoing a potentially scar forming procedure. In fact the ideal situation would be that you are as pale as you naturally would be going into the procedure. Unfortunately scars that form while pigmentation is developing in the body can become discolored. I would discuss this with your doctor(s) and/or nurse(s). If they are well qualified professionals they’ll be able to give you good recommendations on how to limit the risk of developing discolored scars. Don’t use these peptides until your scars have completely healed and formed (this is likely to take several months) to help avoid this issue. Also don’t use tanning beds/salons instead use tan-in-a-can or spray tan in the meantime.

i didnt have any side effects at first apart from darkening of any moles or freckles but your skin catches up with them and evens them out, iv started feeling sickly now tho so do it before i go to sleep.

im gunna take your advice and not bother having any until about 2 weeks after surgery as i didnt think about the scar issue, all my scars go baby pink from them lol.

Hmmm think I’ll have a think about them. My appointment went ok, as soon as nurse closed the doors she said just to let you no we read the mya forum and we no what you’ve written on there….so i just said yes and then the appointment carried on. Towards the end of my appointment my pc came in and again they both mentioned what I’d written on the forum….I could have been intimidated but I hadnt written anything wrong, except for getting the old nurses name wrong which I apologise for, my aftercare wasnt the best so I was right to comment on what I did. Certain things wrnt explained to me such as the reason I had to wait 24 wks post op to see mr. singh-he isnt coming to the cardiff clinic anymore and also they didnt previously mention that they would have paid travel expenses for me to go to another clinic and see him at an earlier date. Dnt let them make you feel awkward hun,aftercare hasnt been up to standards on there part they should be apologising and acting professional not making people feel awkward. xx

My opinion I used them last year I went black! Seriously as I’m really brown anyway

Side effects make you feel sick make you bright red

My honest opinion I’m so glad ive stopped taking them

They aren’t legal for a reason .. I gained moles

And although some doctors use them in America to combat skin cancer

It also increases the risks as you develop moles

I took them cause I was sick of wearing make up and ended up wearing it more

Also the thought of me injecting myself again makes me feel sick

And although the tan is fab you can go too far nd you do have to use sunbeds

To make them work. My advice stick to fake tan.

Nobody should inject themselves its dangerous

Plus as its usually bought off the Internet or friends you have no real IDea

my mum is a nurse and works in the operating theatres about 6month ago she was in theatre when a mans penis was being amputated he was injecting himself in the groin and his penis went black from pigment he lost sensation, he was obviously devastated and worried what his gf would think.

Obviously not everyone will get horrific side effects but I’d just thought I’d tell you what I know, on the other hand I have a friend who has had no side effects but looks like a manky 2pence piece.. sorry, but true!

And in all honesty yes these are something I am afraid to use, I mean your pumping something in your body that you don’t know and not even professionals know what you could be doing to yourself years down the line, you could turn into a bloke for all anyone knows!

I’m not gonna lie and say I’m a 100% safe tanner cos I enjoy the odd sunbed but right now I’m trying to pale off so my scars heal a good colour and that includes after my op xxx

What’s the best fake tan you use girls? Are there any out there that don’t stink? I hate being pale but also hate the smell of fake tan lol! xx

Fake Bake Flawless is really good – it’s a liquid that you spray on a mitt, dries straight away so you can even have a quick swoosh round before you go out and get dressed straight away and it smells of coconut. It’s not too dark so it works really well if you’ve already got a bit of base but in winter if I want a full on deep tan I go back to looking like Stig of the Dump and smelling like smoked ham for a night slathered in good old San Tropez. OMG these injections sound so scary!!

I sometimes use St Mortiz (cheapy St Tropez) mousse in the lightest shade and ontop of my natural skin colour it looks good xx
