Can you wear nail varnish or fake nails when having your BA?

Op this Sunday!! Starting to think of lots of stuff I should have asked my nurse now so hoping you guys can help lol.. Someone told me they will make you take false nails and nail varnish off before the op because of infection. Is this true? I don’t have anything on my finger nails but I have acrylic nails on my big toes at the moment so I don’t think I can get them off in time!.. Will this be alright? Also did you have to take all your makeup and fake tan off before?

Hi Love. U cant have any nail varnish on or if u have acrylics

u need to take off at least one index nail. its nothing about

infection luv. its got to do with monitoring you while u r under

general aneastetic. if something is wrong, and u dont get as

much oxygen as u need your nails go blue so they can check

if u r ok. if u have varnish on or false they arent able yo see

if u have enaugh oxygen.

I couldnt have any make up on is well.

sometimes they can even refuse operating if u dont follow

their rules Hun.

You can have what you like on your toes hun as its just your fingers they check! And defo no make up or tan etc. I quite enjoyed a day off from my vanity lol xx

Lol.. yee I guess i’ve just realised how vain i actually am! worrying what the surgeon will think haha.. I’m sure he doesn’t care :S.. xxx

Something I read was that when you shower the night before or on the morning of the op, not to use any deodorant. Not sure why, but I’ve read it on here somehwere and on some other websites.

If ur going with Mya they shud had have give u a ore op and post oo info sheet at ur pre oo telling u all the do’s and dont.. No nail varnish or acrylic nails. Don’t Mouisteriser up to 24hrs b4 op.. No deodorant after ur last shower, no fake tan or sunbirds 2wks prior to surgery there’s loads on it. Check c if u have the letters x

im going with transform and they just said no makeup or tan, :S.. i really should know this stuff haha.. i think one on my big toe is going to be fine..! I have to wear them because my nails are really short there due to my brother opening a door on my feet ha.. Just thought i would tell you so u dont think im weird wearing nails on one toe nail xxx

gosh im beginning to worry a bit – after reading everything about moisturiser/nail varnish/aryclics etc I asked my pc and surgeon (cyprus – not MYA) and they said im fine to wear all of it – even makeup so long as nothing is on the breast area they said its fine but i think il avoid it all to be on safe side now… thanks for info girls id be lost without this forum xx

No moisturizer and deodorant or soap left on your body. I was allowed to leave gel nails on. Have french nails. Just no color.
