canulars!!! drains!!!! argh……….terrified!!!

ok so i was really excited……31 days to go until new boobies

but then i looked on here and saw that some girls have drains and id completely overlooked the canular part

now im absolutely terrified, i hate needles to the point im almost hysterical and the thought of waking up with a canular and drains makes me feel sick

help!!!

You could ask them to put some of that numbing gel on your hand/arm before the canular goes in.

If you wake up with drains then they don’t hurt, and once there in they’ve got to come out so no point worrying. You’ll be a bit out of it at that point from the medication anyway so you won’t be panicking.

Sorry I can’t be more help I found not thinking about my op worked really well, was calm even walking down to theatre cos it just didn’t feel like it was going to happen.

You can go to the gp and get them to prescribe you emla cream which numbs the skin prior to injections, needles etc if that helps but if its more the thought than the feeling that bothers you take an MP3 player with you and close your eyes and concertrate on the music as much as you can so that u use it as a distraction and breathe normally!!

not all surgeons use drains mine doesnt! i was sooo scared of the canular i even asked if i could be knocked out by gas first lol the anesthetist said he couldnt do that an gave me a little cuddle an said ill take care of u i promise, he said he would put it into my “inner elbow” not sure what thats called instead of my hand as the thought of it made me feel sick, i promise u i didnt feel it going in at all!!! i was being distracted by a sexy male nurse so that helped alot lol but they were so gentle i wouldnt of felt much even if it was just me an the anesthetist in the room! also when the nurse took it out i just sat up an looked the other way an what do ya know? i didnt feel it! i had to ask if she had done it yet lol theres someone talking to u the whole step of the putting u to sleep bit anyway they ask u so many questions ull be distracted, trust me when i say im a wimp an i was fine! xx

thank god someone feels the same! i hate needles ect! i feel dead squirmish ect, i usually cry when i get injections and whats worse is that im going to the hospital myself… im sucha weakling ! xx

im the biggest wuss goin & was dreadin this, they put the numbing cream on me & my hand was completely numb but i still wouldnt let them inject me! i was cryin hysterically at the thought of it so they gave me a gas mask, thats the last thing i remember lol, when i woke up u dont even think of the canular ud of had morphine so no pain atall and all drowsy xx

Thanks girls. I will def ask for numbing cream and am praying for a sexy nurse Flicky lol. My mum is coming with me and she’s prob gonna make it worse, shes like “but theyr gonna cut u open, it is surgery u know. And your worried about the little canular?”. Yep, just that bit, surgery doesn’t bother me cos I will wake up with boobs!

I’m kinda hoping I can have a gas mask aysha.

The only thing I was worried about was canula, asked if he take it out before I wake, he looked at me like I’m crazy an said no lol, but when u come round your so out of it will b last thing on your mind, was bein a wimp when nurse was taking it out aswell so he said il leave it till later then shall I, then started laughing when I said ok because he already had it out in his hand xx

Just so you know about the cannula girls. There is no needle left in your arm/hand. They use a needle to feed a hollow tube into your vein and then when the tube is in place the needle comes out. Just in case you thought there was a sharp impliment in your vein the whole time there isnt. Might make you feel a little better. Taking them out is simple they just slide out with very little trouble and you just have to keep a dressing on for a while until it stops bleeding.
