CLOSED OP rhino people please help!!!!

Hi all! I was wondering if closed op people had a check-up with the nurse before they got their splint off? Or did they do it all in one appointment? A bit confused right now…. xx

no they didn’t take it off! gutted! Not getting it off til Monday! My nurse thought I had open so when I went in I didn’t have to have anything done! She literally looked at it and cleaned it a little! I was led to believe that I would only have one nurse appointment after to get the cast off so I’m confused! xx

How many days have u had the cast on for? And that’s a bit bad that ur nurse didn’t know xx

I’m now day 10 PO…trying to look on the bright side in that I have more healing time between now and Monday! I was so excited though xx

awww hun don’t worry, with closed surgery arent we meant to keep the cast on for 12 days?? can’t wait for mine, i bet ur disappointed but try not to be, like u said least it has more recovery time, how’s the new nose looking? xx

Yeah I think 10-12 days is the norm..Have you booked your pre-op yet? The nurse snipped the plaster at the front so at least I can see the tip and am loving it! Was so afraid that it wouldn’t be centred but it looks fine! Can’t wait to see it all together eek! xx

Yeah my pre op is the 10th August, a month before my op I just want it done now, aww glad ur loving ur nose so far xx

i got mine took off 8 days after my op. and it was first visit to the nurse.

I had open septo rhino with nostril reduction, so ‘the works’!…and i had my stitches out and cast off at day 6!

If she thought you had open she was probably ready to take your stitches out and then get you back to take cast off later. Bit of a cock-up there but at least she cleaned and checked it for you.

Wow day 6 and 8! I will be 14 days with a cast when it eventually comes off!! The whole thing seemed a little suspicious when I was there and it seemed like they were trying to cover up something but I suppose not long to wait until Monday! I will be annoyed if it was a cock-up on their part coz I had to get a taxi in and home which was quite expensive! oh well! xx
